Hunting Bipod?

bi-pods

Unfortunatly there is no such critter. You need two, one for the bench and one for hunting. Buy a Harris, it's worth the extra money.

I personally use a rockmount. I've had Harris bi-pods but feel that the rockmount are just as good and less than half the money. Do buy a swivel though, they are worth the extra $'s. As for the height issue, your not going to find one that will work well for both hunting and bench. I'd suggest as pharaoh2 stated "Buy a longer bipod for hunting, and a set of sandbags for the bench."

Again just me, but for bench shooting definetely go with sandbags. As for hunting, I can't stand those twangy springy things that add weight and just make a gun that much more cumbersome. I've come very accustomed to dropping to a seating position quite fast and locking my elbows on my knees. I think if anything, I'd rather have a shooting stick.

I have a Harris model 25....it's 11" - 25" I have used for prone to sitting, I haven't tried it on a bench yet but I think it would work for that too.... maybe/maybe not.

Personally, I never use a bipod anymore. I got sick and tired of that thing unbalanceing my rifle and digging into my back dureing carry mode when going over hill and dale.

I found a great little invention that with a little practice, is almost as steady as a bipod, and can be used with great effect with any position, from standing fully upright to lying on your belly or sitting on you butt. Very easy and quick to adjust as well.

It's a monopod that doesn't attach to the rifle.

There is a wide "V" on top to rest the rifle in for whichever position you are useing, it's made out of aluminum/tifanium, very tough and doubles as a great walking stick. It also has a handy wrist strap.

A nice thing about it, it only costs $30.

I don't hunt without it anymore, it is one of the slickest hunting aids to come out in a long time. It's always been useful, even when it only gets used as a walking stick.

I use shooting sticks now. I like the Steady Stix by Stoney Point.

I scrapped the bipod after too many times I could not get my rifle on even ground and opportunities were missed. Even sitting on a stand had me have to move my rifle a mere foot just to have it all out of whack.

I could of went with pivoting swiveling tilting bipods but that just way too much bs for it to be practical for me. The stix don't add weight to my shoulder and they don't get hung up on stuff.

I would recommend the stix.
