Hi, folks

I am looking to get a hunting blind mainly for deer hunting.

I am looking for a see thru, water proof(or as much water resistant a s possible), 1-2 person, easy to put up and take down, durable and generally something worth the money.

Any suggestions based on your experience?

Thanks,

My buddy has one from tidewe (Amazon) and likes it. Looks to be pretty affordable.

I hate hunting from them, but my old school solid panel blind makes a great poor weather ####ter.

I was gonna purchase one of the see thru jobs but found out they're not wind proof or even wind resistant. Having no wind when sitting for hrs makes it much more comfortable.

I typically don't spend much money on the pop up style hub blinds. I find the mice chew them up regardless of price lol. I've used a few Herters and cabelas ones over the years and even the cheaper ones last several seasons out there. They do a pretty good job of keeping you dry and out of the elements.

I have used the Tidewe see through blinds and now have a couple, I like them quite a bit. They regularly go on sale and you can usually pick them up for just over $100. For the price, they work pretty well, but like any other blind, they have good points and bad. I can't figure out why the manufacturers put mesh on the bottom panels as you dont look out through them!

I also have one of these by Funhorun and at the moment the price is about $150 more than I paid. I have it on an elevated platform and the door is what I love the most about it is both sides of the back wall unzip and the whole panel flips up and onto the roof. Super easy to get in and out of, and would work well for a hunter in a wheelchair. I hate trying to squeeze in and out of the elongated D zipper door in almost all other blinds.

Like all Amazon products, use camelcamelcamel.com and set price watches on the products you are interested in as the price fluctuations are extreme at times.

As far as windproof, I usually hang a cheap grey fleece car blanket with clothespins behind me to break any wildflow through the blind on my back. I have sat in mesh blinds in driving rain. I do spray the blinds with waterproofing and for the most part am pretty satisfied. Rain beads up on the mesh and doesn't come through the holes. Most of the drips are condensation off the inside of the roof.

Hope this helps.

I agree, wind could be a pest during hunts but as long as the blind gets me out of the elements even a bit, it beats sitting in an open setting. 😜

Thanks, this does help. I will check the links for sure.

I want to get one for next fall, so tons of time to search for one.

Advice based on limited experience of owning one popup tent - expect it to need a good airing out before actually using it. Mine had such a "new car'' smell for it's first few weeks of being outside that a person might even want to try washing it with dawn or similar then hosing down and then airing outside for as long as you can before hunting from it.

DO NOT BUY THIS BLIND:

At 109$ I thought I would try it, and what I didn't realise until after I was in a rainstorm yesterday, the roof is much flatter than my Tidwe or Funhorun blinds. After a bit of rain the centre hub caved in as the roof was accumulating rain water. Neither of the other two mentioned blinds which are set up had any issues and shed water as they are supposed to.

I am not sure if this manufacturer used shorter support rods or less roof fabric, but the roof hub does not raise up as high as the other two brands. Definitely a fail...

Amazon.ca hasn't updated my review yet and I will keep watching to make sure they do.

Is that picture showing it after it collapsed? Looks like the central hub was not pushed up far enough to lock into position?

I can't get that link to work, but I had a blind purchased from Cabela's that lasted just one season. Among its numerous problems, it had a roof hub that required a great deal of pressure from within to lock in place. It seemed to be okay...until it did exactly what you are describing. Monkeying around with it revealed that it was a very tight roof and needed a lot of upward force to completely lock up.

I wish I could recall the maker...it wasn't one of the well-known makers like Primos or Ameristep (which have served me very well for years), nor was it branded as a Cabela's product (I've found that any item with Cabela's name on it was usually garbage). It was total junk and I pitched it.

That's it collapsed with rain on it in second picture. I am sitting in it as I type this. The hub is locked in position in the first picture and will not extend any further upwards.

Don't know why link won't work for you - I just tried it and it worked for me. Here is brand name and title:
