Sorry if this is not the right place to post this. I tried to search this but could not get anywhere.

What kind of boots do you people wear i am looking for new boots and want some feed back on the Danner Canadians and also the Irish setter elk trackers. I am not sure if they even compare to each other but i like the style.

I hunt in the canadian shield so lots of rock and lots of swamp/bog slough type areas. Let me know what you think

Thanks
sincerely
Vince

I wear Irish Setter knee highs if it's sloppy or Ecco Trak 11 uninsulated trekkers until it's about 15 below.

I find unless I was sitting in a tree stand without any movement I don't really need insulation with good smart wook socks.

I've got a pair of waterproof/insulated Danners that I love, and save for hunting/fishing only. I also just got some Dakota's for general wear and they seem much better than I had thought and would make very good hunting boots.

Well, sure, wookie hair knits into really warm socks, but it's getting pretty hard to find in this part of the galaxy. :)

Dunlop puroforts. There are 2 types winter and summer. The winter ones are non lined but still provide superior warmth...although I don't know how.

They're made with Neoprene. Very good insulation.

I haven't seen the Winter/summer versions. Are you sure you're not talking about the Steel toe vs. the non steel toe? The steel toe version looks more 'wintery'.

I've been using the steel toe style for 3 years now. Very tough and very comfortable. I can walk all day in them. I suspect the non steel toe version would make more sense for hunting and walking but I've been happy with what I have so far.

They're great year round.

I have the summer steel toed ones and my father in law has the clunky winter steel toed ones.

I'll have to check that out. I have the 'clunky' ones too. Good traction in the mud....

I just noticed that you're from NF. I was going to add that most of our guides wore those on my last hunting trip over there. Nothing else holds up as well.

I hunt on shield and swamp too. I have two pair of Nokians that hopefully will last me to the grave. They are the perfect boots for me in that terrain. The removable felt liners keep you warm in the dead of winter and are easily removed to dry. You can view their selection of hunting/outdoor boots at http://www.nokianfootwear.fi/eng/outdoor/

We have plenty of Wookie here in Alberta, but only in the western part of the Province...grin
