Hunting Bullets?

I've had lots of Sierra game kings fail over the years , in fact they have failed to miss game kill game with one shot, and fail to be accurate fopr more than 30 years for me.
The things are accurate, versatile to load in almost any cartridge, and kill with one shot as long as you put the danged bullet where it is supposed to go.
I have heard that people say Seirra bullets fail to hold together - when I show them numerous bullets that did NOT break up but held there weight, they say that they don't penetrate.
When I give instances where the Game King went kitty corner , they say "it was a close shot, far shot", whatever.
I've used most of the brands out there, the premiums included, and see no real reason to switch from Sierras.

I use 'em and like 'em, 'nuff said.

I have killed deer with Powerpoints, SilverTip, Core-Lokt, Accubond, Partition, Sierra, Speer and BallisticTip, moose with Accubonds and my buddy uses Core-Lokt and PowerPoint, and bears with SilverTip, SpeerGS and Accubond.

I honestly can't say which ones performed better as all the deers, mooses and bears were harvested. The only differences were the amount of dammage they did so if it shoot well out of your gun, use it. Of course, I would not use a BallisticTip for moose or big bear but you get the idea.

The noslers we have tried/used are all the partitions. We find they tend to retain 75-80% of their weight, and expand a little over 200% of their diameter.
The hawks retain around 97-98% of their weight, and get around 220% expansion.
Really, the hornady's aren't usually that far behind the noslers in retention, but get beat by them in expansion.
444 I pm'd you.

And now, one more coffee and by then the wife should be out of bed and we're on our way; hoping the wife can get her first deer, and I'm going to try my darndest to park one of those 400gr hawks in a 3 yr old moose. Here's hoping. Will post our success or failure in a couple wks.

I've been using Interbonds for years. Really like the performance.

This year I am using Speer boattails ( I had a box of them so I figured I'd try them)

I mainly load Partitions, or ,Swift sciroccos depending on what the rifle likes with very good results on game.

I meant what do you guys like to use, for whatever caliber you have and for whatever game you shoot. Personally I'm using either my 30-06 or my .300WM on moose and maybe the odd deer. I have Barnes Tipped TSX but find them difficult to laod with. I'm thinking of trying something else and I might look at the Nosler brand. I've loaded some Hornady SST's for the 30-06 and shot a 4 shot group of 1.07" at 100yrds.

I just wanted to get a topic going about what you guys liked

Careful not to hit any bone with those SSt's, you'll have a real mess if you hit the front shoulder. FS

remington core lokt soft points for the 30-06 accurate and kill with lighting authority broadside head and neck bang flop on deer and bear never shot a moose so i wouldn't know but there cheap and reliable and remington so you know there good

Glad to hear that. I am using 165gr. Sierra SBT gamekings for the first time this deer season in my 06.

For more than 20 years Nosler Partition have never let me down.
No need to try anything else, happy with performance.

For a few pennies more than standard bullets per round they have proven their worth.

JMHO

There are 2 brands that consistantly fail our tests, 100% of the time. Every single bullet of theirs we've tried.

Now, sayin' something like that, then walkin' away, that there is just low. :D

Ante up. I'd love to know which bullets fail, and in which manner. Enquiring minds, and all that.

Water jugs are not very much like meat and bone, though they fit the consistent and readily available requirement.

Cheers

I've used TSX in the past, but found that they are like mini hand grenades and can do a lot of meat damage - good for killing, but lots of wasted meat too. Going to try 140 gr Nosler ABs this year and see how the do.
