I settled on a Browning XPO jacket and am having a heck of of a time finding waterproof, breathable camo pants or a bib that will fit me in length. I guess I'm short and wide. I take a Large for my waist but large is about 4 inches too long.

These things have zippers about all the way up past the knee. I can't see how this could be altered without a huge expense and then some retaping sealing of the zipper.

Someone else must have solved this problem. ? What do the rest of you do?

I take them to a tailor, have them cut to new length and new zipper installed. I've been doing it for many years, I hope someone has an answer....without going on a diet, I've tried that, it didn't work either. Respectfully Jim Mansell

Noooooooooooooo, just roll them up inside.
You never know when you're going to need to wipe the postier derrier.
Perfect time to alter them.

I have found there is no rhyme or reason to Browning clothing sizes... I have ordered and returned various things, and now I make sure that I go to a retailer and try them on. I have matched suits that are a size L jacket and XXL pants, and vice-versa. I just bought a pheasant jacket last year, size L, and last week bought the same in a vest and needed an XXL. Strange.

I have had a couple of pairs of bibs altered with new zippers at a local tailor, I think it was about $40 which really isn't unreasonable given the amount of work it is.

Man, I wish I had your issues finding clothes!! I'm 6'5" but only 200lbs... Finding camo or even work clothes that are long enough but I don't swim in is a chore to say the least. If I were in your boots, I'd pay to have stuff tailored in a heartbeat.

You actually worried about water ingress at the edge of a cuff?

Take a set to a seamstress and have her have at. Terminating a couple zippers is pretty minor. Like as not, the price will shock you for how little they charge, but ask up front. Talk to a couple different ones if you need to know for sure. Odds are good that they have done similar before. Phone calls are good, but showing up in person with article or articles in hand, is a better bet.

As a funny aside, a guy I used to dive with sent in a set of measurements for a custom dry suit, and they actually called him to confirm, as he was <cough> under-tall, for his waist size...

Cheers

Your problem is not confined to the vertically challenged out there!! Since most clothing is manufactured in Asia I have found it difficult to buy even normal sizes that actually have any sort of bredth to length ratio. I'm 6' and 240 with very wide shoulders, same problems here.

Well friends, alteration turns out to be no problem. I've got a GREAT seamstress. She did some magic with the zipper; cut the zipper at the bottom and set the hem up so the zipper naturally cannot go any further then the hem and put two pieces of velcro where the button used to be at the ankles. She even replaced the silly dome button on the waist for me to a proper button; all for $35.

I'm all set!
