Went out yesterday and today for a walk at the edge of the Qu'Appelle Valley north of Grenfell. Yesterday was too windy to walk out in the open, so I made a fire and cooked a couple of hunks of ham stuff. Great white hunter had matches, but... nothing to strike them on. Finally, I got one lit on a button on my knife case. Had my old .32 Special. Been hunting out there for nearly forty years. Saw a nice big horned owl today. Managed to drop one of my el cheapo gloves in the fire. Never saw a deer. All in all - great days!!:p:p

My thinking exactly. I have enjoyed many, many excursions to "the bush" since I was a kid hunting rabbits with my Cooey 39. Whether I actually get anything, or even see the game I am after, has not been a big deal. My Dad used to drive me out to a bush on a Saturday afternoon to let me hunt rabbits in the winter. I learned back then to appreciate good health, good eyesght and the outdoors. I don't remember him preaching to me about this. He had a great way of letting me learn on my own. I can now chuckle when a bush partridge takes off right behind me, or when I finally notice a deer standing watching me. The worst day of doing this beats work - no contest!!:p:p

Ah yes!

A true hunter.

Hunting aint about going into the bush thinking your going to get your bag limit or that big buck or bull. It is about enjoying the fresh clean air, being alone and relaxing, listening to nature and living in and being around nature. Being away from the hussel and bussel of the city or workplace.

To be alone with ones self to fully appreciate the true beauty of this planet we call earth!

Looks like you had a fantastic time out there. I love making little fires and just kicking it back relaxing with no distraction :)
