Hunting Dogs!!! Post your pics & stories!!!

I went out yesterday for huns near home and quit early after a deer hunter "scoped" my dogs and I from the road, If I could have got to him before he left I'd have reported him to the cops for unsafe handling of a firearm. I'm glad there are very few of these nimrods left.

I got back from a quick Am hunt and the daughter caught us relaxing before supper.

Hunter 2 Pheasant 1 . Got out today in a pretty stiff wind and tried a new area. The birds were a bit scarce but the country is beautiful. I should have had 3 birds but on the last one the gun went click click ???????. When I opened the action there were no shells!!!!. As I'm well into my Geezerhood forgetting things is common but I've never done this before, oh well got to leave some for seed. The boy's did well and had a great time.

I did that this spring on a wild turkey! I did get the bird in the afternoon though.

I'm always looking for new training apparatus for my labs. I have remote bumper throwers and use a Retriev-R-Trainer. When I saw the NcStar golf ball launcher something twigged and I ordered one...$30. Golf balls are too small for training purposes. I have a Chiappa Little Badger and the launcher threads onto the end...

...it launches a golf ball about 150 yards...

...after several failed attempts I came up with this...drilled golf ball with carriage head bolt and finishing washer...bolted onto a 1/2" PVC end...glued onto 1/2" PVC pipe...1/2" pipe insulation zip tied through pipe...a plastic disc cut from a crazy carpet to stop the pipe from rupturing the canvas sock...and a canvas sock zip tied on...

...it launches the dummy about 20 yards with the lowest power .22 training blank and minimal recoil...

...works great

***I ONLY SHARE THIS OUT OF INTEREST...ANYONE MAKING ONE OF THEIR OWN DOES SO AT THEIR OWN RISK

...works great as a distractor throw

Training day. I took Chip,Bug and a young fellow's young pup named Arlo out for some training fun. For my guy's its old hat but a hoot but for Arlo it was his first time with birds and he was ecstatic. What a great way to spend a morning.

Here are a few of my 2 year old Pudelpointer. She's a scary smart dog. Easy to train with loads of natural abilities. She's from Mike Pallotta at Pineridge Pudelpointers. She's eaten her share of phones, remote controls, and shoes but i wouldn't trade her for anything.

Thanks Londonshooter,
I smile every time i see a set of tire tracks or an open gate at any of the dozens of woodlots on the way to mine. Lots of us share and live the same dream. Check out the "small cabin forum". It has a lot of Ontario cabin builds on it.
