Ok, me and the wife just started hunting together and we were looking into getting a boat. The law says no for boats for hunting anything other than waterfowl which is fine with us because that is all we were going to use it for, besides fishing of course. However are there any rules pertaining to hunting from the boat itself??? The regulations in the hunter education book are not the greatest.

QUOTE FROM THE BOOK:
"MOTORBOATS: Under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Act, 1997, a motorboat means a boat with a motor that is
attached to the boat (see Definitions on page 86). There
is an exception to this rule if you are hunting waterfowl in
accordance with the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994.
"

I boldfaced the only part mentioning anything about waterfowl.

EDIT: another quote states, "A loaded firearm may be carried in, and discharged from, a canoe or boat that is being paddled, with no motor attached. "

But I'm wondering for a motorboat, are we allowed to anchor in a body of water or hide in reeds, can you discharge from the boat (obviously while not moving).

The motor out of water and no forward motion, and yes i just chased one yesterday morn, running through waist deep water is exhausting, my other one just folded when i hit it

For waterfowl in Ontario...........motor off, no forward momentum. Motor does not need to be out of the water.

Rules are different for big game.
