Hello everyone
I'm new to geese hunting and looks like I'm going to be trying it a lot this year ...
I just bought a Rig'Em Right Low Rider Layout Blind and some Bigfoot decoys

A guy in town is telling me he will go hunting early morning get the geese he can go to work with them in the box of his truck in the shade and only clean them when he gets home after 6-7 pm at night?
This can't be right can it?
Will the meat not go bad by this time?

I've cleaned many "early morning shot" ducks after a day at school, no harm done. Geese are bigger and retain more heat. Not sure how it would turn out if you delayed dressing geese. You might want to consider pulling out the guts at the end of your hunt, a quick cut and scoop and that's done.

Some places hang birds for days. I've cleaned geese 10-12 hours after I shot them. I like to age the breast meat in cool temps for a day or two before I eat them. I wouldn't go over 70 degrees or direct sunlight

I have seen the meat on them water blister under the skin after only a few hours on warm days. Like anything else, the quicker you cool the meat the better. Feathers are very insulating and do not allow the breast meat to cool off quickly. In late season when it's cold it is not a big issue to leave them for a while but after 35 years of waterfowling I clean them asap. There is no shortage of disgusting fluids leaking in them if the pellets hit vitals that contain things like digested foods, excrement etc. If you think you may be a while at least knock the guts out. With the cavity open at least they will cool better than guts in and you can finish the remainder later. Much better table fare IMO that way.

I ususally clean them fast, but most of the time they sit in cool lake water and cool down fast, then im cleaning them late afternoon, no harm done. I ususally try to clean them same day as long as its not hot out and baking in the back of the truck box.

If it's warm out I've used a tool called The Gut Wrench. Quickly pops the guts out in seconds. I usually clean my birds immediately after the hunt before coming home unless it's super cold outside I will do them in my garage with several heaters.

Early season geese starts to liquidfy in a few hours. I clean them asap. That dark juice that flows stinks up yhe back of the truck like nothing else.

I generally clean my birds the next day ............ Unless they are really busted up, no harm will be done letting them cool ovenite, and if the weater is chilly, a few days ............. Don't just leave them in a heap, however ............ stretch them out and lay on the cold cement garage floor or ground.
Once they set up ....... Actually easier to deal with.

YMMV

With ducks I used to pluck the feathers off the breast at least. Pretty easy to do while fresh. I would gut them if leaving for the day and maybe put them in a cooler in back of truck. This will give you a reason to buy one of those electric coolers!
