Hunting Handgun

In Canada it is still a handgun by definition (bbl length, overall length, designed to be used with 1 hand etc), so it is restricted and cannot be used outside of an approved range without the neccessary permits etc.

Sorry no hunting!

This too?

You can't hunt with a handgun nor any 'restricted' firearm anywhere in Canada. You can get a U.S. hunting licence and permits to hunt with a handgun Stateside though.

Stupid Rules......

I've always wanted to carry my .45 just in case for a finishing shot on those days when my aim is a 1/4" off and the deer just doesn't pass on quick enough. Hate to see them suffer. Instead I have to use my 270 from 6 feet away and waste more meat.

I know what you mean. What trouble could we possibly get up to, carrying handguns in the woods.

No, I mean if it was legal. What mischief could we get up to in the woods with handguns, whats the point of making that ilegal?

that happen way back in 1934 they started all this handgun stuff in this country

It would be nice if we could carry a nice-calibred handgun when hunting just in case.

A friend (down south) said he ran into an aggressive Coyote (close range), and was just about to try to shoot it with his bolt action when it was scared off.

You could probally just give one of those things one good boot and they're dead. I saw one when I was jogging, I freaked out thinking it was a pitbull till it got closer and realized it was just a coyote.

A sidearm might be re-assuring for bow hunters in bear country.

ATC's are available to people who work in the bush and because of the nature of their fieldwork, cannot carry a long gun eg. geologists, prospectors, forestry workers, surveyors, trappers etc.

We should continue to try to expand the eligibilty for all law abiding firearms users who venture forth into bear country.

I don't like being one of the "privileged" few whom the government allows to carry in the bush.
