An incredible thing has happened to me this year. Long before hunting season opened, I began to feel a delibitating pain in my left knee. So bad that I pondered over it's affects over my ability to hike out and persue my happiness. My doctor told me that I had developed arthritis in the joint, my God WHAT WAS to become of me? I asked. I popped some Advil as it is a good inflamation medecine and went on. I can't believe the results, the more I walk and go hard, the better I feel and so does my knee. If I lay at home sitting on the couch watching the Calgary Flames getting their butts kicked, the worse the knee gets. My medicine........go hard old man, yeehaw :p

I LOVE TO HUNT.

Same deal here gitrdun. About 3 months ago I blew out my back (which isn't the first time for me). It got better then about a month ago I stupidly lifted a heavy box at a f**ked up angle and really did it. I could hardly walk for a couple of days and this a little over a week before a hunting trip planned with a buddy in the interior :(

I wore a brace for a couple days and took it easy carefull not to lift anything in a twisted position. Still in quite a bit of pain I headed for the hunting trip as planned. Pounding the hillsides my back got better every day and I had no troubles. :)

Yep, nothing like excersise (as long as its not agravating the injury) to heal stuff. :) Mind you things seemed to heal a lot faster 20 years ago ;)

Yes....I like you already Salty, a man after my own heart. You're only going to live once, might as well make the best of it.

Edit: and I think that us "old boys" are made of a different fiber. We're not so good with them new fandangled electronic gadgets, at least I'm not. Gimme horse hair, leather, wood and steel man, I'll live.

You got it.....when's the last time ya had to stick a new battery in a horses arse to get him going?????

Electric stuff is fine, but knowing how to do without is good too.

Well I hear ya boys but to be honest I never was much of a horseman. Been ther done that as a kid a bit and hunting to boot. No better way.

But living on the coast for the last 18 years horses have been out of the program totally. Some folks keep horses around here but I don't get it. Not a great life for a horse as far as I'm concerned; living on 2 acres with jungle all around you.

I'd like to do some riding again one of these years. And I keep what was the old man's custom built 1939 high back roping saddle lovingly stored up in the loft of my shop just in case.:cool::cool:

I used to have a disk that would pop out on occasion causing any amount of pain & time frozen in position "usually on the ground where I fell"
Took many years with a chiro to get it kinda under control.
My present chiro gave me this little tip that I have found works wonders.
When you feel a couple twinges in your back grab something over your head & just hang for a number of seconds, you will be amazed how well it works :)
If your disk is already slipped a little it will be quite painful for a bit, but if you ease into it & learn to relax a little your body weight will straighten you out.

The happiness of the hunt is providing your body positive attitude . This positive attitude makes a person feel better. Someone that is always sad and depress has a better chance of being ill .
