Just out of curiosity, the fire near fort McMurray obviously disrupted the animal habitats.

But is the government restricting hunting this season or doing anything to try and restore damages?
 
Not too sure. We won't know about any changes to seasons until the new regs come out (usually late summer). As for restoration, I wouldn't be surprised to see some tree planting but fires are a part of normal forest succession. While the new habitat will be worse for some species, it might be better for others. Perhaps someone from the area can chime in and let us know what you're seeing?
 
Fires can be good for deer and moose habitat when it grows back a few years later, however fires are generally bad for caribou, since they need old growth lichen to feed on. Because of fires and other habitat & human pressures, caribou are doing poorly over vast areas of the north.
