Hunting in GTA ?

That would make an interesting law suit, attacked by an animal released in a local forest, not informed about potential danger, no means to protect your self, and the fact that they would likely deny the animal can be found in that area. I will kill one if I see it! I've heard over the past month that they have released them into Nonquan this past summer, I hunt there often and would like that rug!

They released them in the Nonquon at the sametime. Like I said, Durham Region was also involved.

I agree, kitchener/waterloo...and if you want real exotics go to the local cambridge watering holes! We venture out them ways now and then. Nothing like wrestling an aged cougar in a cheap hotel..LOL!

I live in the rouge valley area of toronto as well.

I remember last year (2007), one of the community papers (the scarboro mirror) ran a story about bow hunters in the rouge valley..

according to the story, some people complained that they saw hunters in the valley..
when police were called, they didn't respond because they said as long as nobody was discharging firearms it was not in their juristiction.. they said it was an MNR problem..

the MNR said that because there was an open season in that WMU it was not a crime.. but, apparently there is a municipal by-law that animals inside the toronto city limits are "protected"... nobody could figure out whose problem it was.

of course this is all according to the report in the local paper, and we all know how reporters love to do research on a story, and actually print the facts.

didn't hear anything else about it after that.

actually just so you guys know there are also a bunch of Jaguars in the GTA also...I find them to be a bit more fiestier and unpredictable than there true north american couger!!!

I'm just west in the GTA, Mississauga that is, and there is absolutely no discharging of firearms, including bows. But, a short 10 minute drive to Brampton, and bow hunting is legal, and from what I remember, a total of 8 deer tags per hunter last year. The catch is finding and getting permission on landowners property.

I don't think you can legally buy 8 tags, but I get the point of what you are saying. Are the deer in that neck of the woods, curry deer??
