Hi there everyone, I know this is long shot but thought I would try! I have recently moved to muskoka and would like to deer and grouse hunt this fall, as there is limited crown land to hunt in the area I was wondering if any one on here let’s hunters use there land/farm for reasonable fee? I have paid landowners a nominal fee in the past and wouldn’t mind doing it again. I normally hunt alone or with my 10yr old daughter.
Thanks in advance

Are you even aloud to rent land for hunting? Pretty sure there is some law against this... Could be wrong though. I know in the states a lot of people buy hunting rights from private property owners

Check out the local sporting goods stores and see if they'll let you put up an ad. You can also put an ad into the local papers. Stress the fact that you're an experienced ethical hunter who's respectful of boundaries. You may find someone willing to share or rent hunting rights or be invited to meet with an existing gang to be assessed. However it works out, good luck to you.

Have you tried the Crown Land Atlas? There is probably a lot of crown land but since it’s close to Algonquin there may be special management rules.

Yeah... I have looked at that but it’s rather vague on coordinates on the map (it shows my property and my neighbours as crown land for example) so determining if I’m on crown land or private land is a little difficult. I’ve called the MNR and they said it is just a general guide not reliable source to determine whether your on crown land or not.

There is thousands of acres of crown land in that area. Don’t hunt 100 acre blocks if your concerned about the accuracy but in general it has been very accurate for me. Within 1 hr of Minden I can think of at least 4-5 parcels of thousand plus acre frontages. They all will be heavily hunted during the gun season for deer by groups. Running hounds and pushing bush is the traditional way in this area. Grouse or bow seasons you will basically have it to your self.

There's no law against renting land for hunting in Ontario. That practice is usually only found around areas of high population density where Crown land is non-existent,usually,around farm land close to the GeeTeeYay or urban centers of the south east where there's lots of people that don't have the time or inclination to drive 2 or 3 hours north.

Do yourself a favour and get I hunter Ontario. Pay the 20 bucks for the land access. It's changed the game. Seriously. You can see where you are what is private. What is public and every restriction. Seasons. Everything. Pm me if you need any help. I found some great public land this way.

It would be good if you were a little more sure about this before casting doubt. Either something is legal or it's not. In this case it is 100% legal. Post facts not conjecture.
