hunting in Ontario

Mattawa or Cobden doesn't seem too bad as it's less than 2 hrs. I currently drive 3 hours to get to my hunting spot. No forest whatsoever around where I live, just farmland.

Don't under-estimate the "just farmland". If you are looking for WT deer, the farmland can support amazing densities of WT deer with hedgerows, ravines, wetlands, a few woodlots and old fields. If discharge of a firearm is allowed in the municipalities of farmland close to you, and you can find a landowner or two who will let you hunt their property, you might get in some good deer hunting.

In the more populated municipalities that allow discharge of firearms there may be a shotgun-only firearm season for deer. Tree stands and blinds are a popular method for setting up close to deer trails. In farm country the deer trails are often very prominent and easy to find.

If you have a old hunting licence from another province, you are usually good to go with a license in Ontario. Before you jump into a hunter safety course, check out whether you need it.

Pretty much all are recognized. Even from the US.
