Hi,
I just moved from SK to QC.
I know nothing about hunting regs and was wondering if there's any OTC tags for whitetail. Also, could someone tell me what zones have Crown land as I don't know anyone to ask for permission. I live in Gatineau but I'm willing to drive 2-3 hours. Thanks

I am in the area. I had an Ontario hunting card and had to show proof that I completed the hunters safety course for that. I sent that paperwork from like 2004 in to Quebec and they sent me a Quebec hunting / outdoors card. I can now buy tags or permits to hunt anything I want here.
If you’re looking for crown land the app through the Quebec govt is glitchy and hard to understand, especially if you don’t understand French well. But most crown land within 1 -2 hrs of Ottawa is land locked. If you go up by otter lake or gracefield, kazabazua you might find some.

I moved from Regina to the NCR. I go back to the West for hunting. Just about everything is either posted land or impossible to navigate.

As someone who grew up hunting in Quebec and moved to Saskatchewan, I feel for you.

Good luck, you'll need it.

First of all how did you get your PAL or RPAL. I moved here from Alberta in 2008 and took a while to get a Hunting with a firearm certification. I took the class and found out I couldn't hunt because I challenged the tests for both the Pal and RPAL. So had to wait till they had a course for the PAL to take the course write the test and they sent me my card. They wouldn't accept my hunting card from Alberta and told me passing the firearms test didn't mean I understood the course if I never took it. .
The first year you can get a apprentice permit for the year. It allows you to buy any tag they sell but you have to have someone over 25 with you that has firearms certificate. And yes there is over the counter whitetail tags and bull moose tags and bear tags.

wow, I can't believe how bad it is. Police is looking the other way of course.

I think that is where they filmed "Deliverance".....Scares the hell out of me. I would never venture to the Gaspe region on a hunt because of that mentality. Go to an outfitter or be ready to drive 10 hours north of Montreal if you want to do a moose hunt.

I got my PAL in SK. I hunted for 8 years now but only in SK. I had to relocate because of my job but I still want to do what I love the most.
