Hunting in the Kawartha lakes

Hi their I’m new too gunnutz and new to the town of Omemee in Kawartha Lakes.
I’m looking for land to hunt rabbit, turkey,deer. I know it’s hard to find a private land owner who would allow hunting on his property. Does anyone know the hunting areas in kawarthas, and if hunting waterfowl on pigeon river is permitted cause I see many duck blinds built in the bull rushes along side Emily provincial park any info would be greatly appreciated.

In your immediate area,there isn't any crown land that can he hunted. Very small areas are land locked by private property. There's some Conservation Areas which allow hunting. You'll need to check Otonabee Region Conservation Authority maps. Other than that,knocking on doors is your only option. Hunting waterfowl on The Pigeon River and all surrounding lakes is permitted. ORCA maps should show public boat launches.

Be careful around the provincial park, I think the river section through it is off limits.....most of the lakes are good to go for waterfowl hunting, finding areas without cottages where you can shoot is tricky, gets easier after the first two weeks when a lot of the pressure drops....
 
Ya I see blinds up plus only cottages too the one side of the river and the park is closed by that time when waterfowl opens
 
I used to leave in Omemee so I know the area well. The pond to the south of the town is open for hunting and in the past I would set up on the island and wait for the geese to fly in. Pigeon river to the south is also a great area for ducks as there are no cottages to worry about. Finding places to hunt deer is difficult especially if you are new to the area but knock on doors and best of luck to you.
 
Call the MNRF or hit the local feed store. Ask if they know any farmers having a problem with coyote. They will be glad to hear from you and it opens a door that will open many more. Hunt safe respect boundries and dont forget them at Christmas and you are doing everything right. Good luck.

I have lots of land to hunt in Kawartha Lakes, Durham region and also in Napanee.

I just need the hunter to agree to do some summer work on my farm in exchange for the rights to hunt on my land.

Anyone interested can PM me for details.
 
I lived and hunted in the Kawarthas for years. In addition to what others have mentioned, I will just suggest that you consider doing some coyote hunting. It's a heap of fun, there are lots of dogs around, you can do it pretty much any time...and best of all, it is much easier to get permission to enter private property to hunt coyotes than to do the same with deer or turkeys. If you conduct yourself properly, you might find yourself gaining permission at a later time to hunt these other game species on properties where you would have been turned away if you had approached them as an unknown quantity.
 
Hi their, I am very intrested in this opportunity I can also help in grooming the property with, heavy construction equipment, or a bobcat here n their when needed. Pls let me know if this is something u would consider.

Hi their I’m very intrested in this and could also be of help involving machines if needed groom a path, drainage etc.
 
Emily Creek offers pretty fair duck hunting, as does the south end of Sturgeon Lake at the mouth of McLaren's Creek.
Be aware that some of that area is flooded land, and the land owner owns those hummocks of visible land.
Make a boat blind and all is good.
Emily can be accessed from the boat launch at the bridge on HWY 36, or at the old railway line to Bobcaygeon, now a road.
The south end of Sturgeon can be accessed from any of a dozen or so boat launches on the lake, or by coming up river from Lindsay.
When I lived there, I accessed Emily from 36.
MNR checks you fairly regularly at the launch near the opening dates.

Used to hunt that entire area all troughout my college days. Boat blind is the way to go. Hunting could be hit or miss depending on the time of year and weather conditions. When it was good it was great. Mallards, blacks, wood ducks, and geese. Early season blue and green wing teal. Later season bufflehead, golden eye, bluebills, ring necks were the main species we harvested. You'll need a good flood light to go up and down the creek in the dark. If you can find the right spots back in the reeds with a well set decoy spread. You can be sure of some great shooting if you're not in the right spot you'll know it.

Used to hunt deer in the private lands all along the west side of the creek also. Some monster bucks live along the creek.
There is some crown land north of bobcaygen ( Nogies creek) that we deer hunted as well, lots of deer camps and pressure if I recall
