Anyone here hunt small game in the summer? I just got my small game license and my PAL should be coming real soon. I know most game animals don't open till the fall but some (fox etc.) are open year round. I live in Oshawa so I'd like to hunt within 3 hrs from here.

Summer is fishing time. that pretty much takes up all the hunting time and besides not much is open anyway and the bugs will be horrible and it's just more pain then it's worth. I hunt to enjoy myself not be miserable but if you want to go for it.

What bothers me is that the best fishing and hunting season are at the same time.Late september and early October are when I've caught my biggest trout.

Coyotes are open in most areas. A good time to get some practice. A lot of farmers hate them so getting permission to hunt them should be easy. Skunks open all year to I hate them smelly suckers.

Squirrels closed in Ontario around December 15th

Don't let some nice warmth stop you from getting out. Go hunting when the suns just coming up and it should be good.

Spring Turkey season is open until May 31, but you have to take the stupid course first. Summer is also good to practice with your new rifle or shotgun (on targets and gophers), and have all the bugs worked out, of you and the equipment, so you'll be confident in yourself come fall.

I shoot a lot of skeet and sporting clays in the summer, great on Sunday mornings...
