Im thinking of going hog hunting in Texas. Have you ever gone?
I have found out all you need is an out of state hunting license cost $43
Can one bring the meat back into Canada ? In what state? Ideally it would be butchered and frozen.
But I think I've read it has to be a skin on carcass , not sure.
I haven't really gone deep into research as I am waiting on my hunting buddies replies to see if they
would want to go.

I brought the choice cuts of three hogs back from Texas on 3 separate occasions..... I had them flash frozen and cryovacked and brought them back in cheap foam coolers....

As the rules go, customs should technically be able to identify the species if required, but they never hassled me..... Also, your permit from the state to shoot the hog has to accompany the meat......

Based on my discussions with customs when we went the hogs had to be intact with hides on, but gutted was okay. We brought 5 hogs back from Texas. Froze them in a walk-in freezer and than packed them in 1500 lbs of ice all wrapped up in a tarp in the box of my 1-ton. They were still frozen when we got home 2.5 days later. Ice is cheap down there - we paid $100 for the 1500 lbs. We declared them on the way back in and they never even asked to see anything.

As far where to go we had a family friend who lives down there arrange it so I'm not much help other than it was 5 years ago and the cost was about $250 per day per hunter.
