Hunting is a coward's pastime!

All I'll say is that it would really help if people take the time to educate themselves on the topics they're posting about.

What he said!!! As was mentioned, most people who object to or vilify hunters & trappers have absolutely no knowledge of the subject. Mostly, you find yourself talking to some educated idiot who arrogantly assumes education equal intelligence. The "anti" arguments are almost always based on some emotional foundation or highly suspect statistics. How this dweeb managed to come up with "coward" as a word applied to hunting, I don't know nor do I want to. One of my favourite quotes, "never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". I've heard over and over again, mostly from some smugly self-righteous, metrosexual, urban, weenie about the unfairness of hunting, the mistreatment of animals, how there's no need in a modern society to hunt, etc. etc. etc. Anyone who has the nerve to call themselves "educated" should know that the only way to intelligently debate any subject is to educate yourself as to both sides of the issue, then adopt a position. How basic is that???

The old saying ''if a man speaks in the forest and their is nobody around(assuming he is married and hetero ###ual) is he still wrong?''
Asking this up amongst ourselves we will will end up withe the same results .
We will agree and the anti's will still be wanting us dead or eating tofu or killing carrots when pulling them out of the ground.
The guys who baited the Lion and and it was a tagged Lion as it wore a GPS tracking device did two things made 55k really fast and killed an easy target.
Let the courts in Africa decide on how to deal with the dead beats and someone please pass me the Deer Tenderloin and Blackberry jam Gravy for my Garlic Spuds Please!
Any Dentists looking for a practice in Minnesota?

Best Regards....
Rob

It seems the whole article was based around the history of PETA, the lion was only at the beginning of the article for a couple of paragraphs. is this a PETA recruiting drive or just a punch at the hunting community of a so called illegal baiting and hunt?

On the same day Cecil the lion was killed, 21,000 children died. That is one child every 4 seconds. Where is the social media outraged for these children? But then, it is easy to focus on one lion and hate one man.

I'm pretty sure Lions are not endangered. Could be wrong tho, it did happen once before.

Yeah... not really into defending that D-B@g who illegally, poached an endangered animal... then left the lions meat to rot in the sun... and yes I do a bit of legal, responsible hunting myself.

Of course, not really a fan of PEATA either but will pass on saying anything in defense of that individual who really made things worse for any legitimate hunter who respects nature, and the law.

Their is a difference between hunting and just baiting and shooting an animal . No I don't hunt . But I agree with hunters. Baiters on the other hand...

Hunting is about having a positive wildlife experience. For many people that means meat. For others it is selecting which animal they have the most respect for as a physical specimen. For some it is simply to be in the presence of an animal that does not know the human is nearby. I've had each of those experiences.

A fellow at work tried to engage me in the 'hunter is a bully' rhetoric. I tried to turn it to the fact that black bear, deer, elk, moose, wolf, geese and ducks are not endangered whatsoever in Canada. He didn't like that.

How is it different from bear baiting though?
They fill a barrel with stinky goodies to bait the bear in, and when he gets used to it and comes regularly, you sit up in a tree reading your book hiding, and when poor Smokey comes ambling in you put your book down and !POW! no more Smokey.
Not a hunt IMHO.

Have you hunted bear over bait?

No, I have not. Feel free to correct me if I am completely out to lunch here.
The skill of tracking and stalking, oh wait, no tracking or stalking while sitting in tree reading book
The thrill of potentially coming face to face, oh wait, no face to face while sitting in tree reading book.
The exhilarating feeling of pushing your phisical limits climbing, running, fording swamps, oh wait, no fording while sitting in tree reading book.
The heroic exploits of the hunter sitting in a tree shooting fish in a barrel
Just not my thing.

That's fine, everyone's entitled to an opinion, but it's generally poor form to give one on a subject you know nothing about.

Weeny dentist had an agenda and was filling (lol) the slots. PETA's over reaction is gonna come regardless of how Cecil ended his life. I still think its a shame and the guide obviously knew the lions heritage. And Mr. DeadeyeDick the bow hunter only wounded the lion. So many fails in so little time.

I still do not understand where "coward" comes into the anti hunting argument.

Its got zero relevance.

Its a common comment, made by people who don't have a clue what motivates hunters. They just want to insult and belittle.

If they are talking to someone who hunts dangerous game they will switch gears to portray him as an ego driven, rich elitest snob. That plays well, because who doesn't hate an elitist snob that has more money than them? Rich bashing is popular. You can even get other hunters to join in.

The funny thing are the "meat hunters" who hate trophy hunters. You'd think that they would welcome those poor deluded hunters who seek out the old, used up, almost dead anyway males that no self respecting meat hunter would want in their kitchen. By rights they aren't even competition. Fact is, most are full of #### and antihunters are pretty good at turning hunters against each other.

The reported 40 hours to die is what really F@$$ING bothers me. That is absolutely disgusting. Who cares if there was a legal permit, or even a poach, but come on... 40 hours wounded! Sorry bowhunters, but if you can't drop an animal with one shot....
