Hunting Licences/Tags

My spring bear hunt is looking suspect..........Between my wife and a couple hunting partners not looking good. She does not want me solo hunting where there is no cell reception and the other guys won't go up because of COVID! I might have to just step out for 'milk'!

I bought my general license and all my species tags online for the year last week, but that’s what I always do every spring. Well I usually buy them from my local place in person but I always buy them all at once in the spring, I’ll be hunting no matter what happens come fall.

Ontario just nixed camping on Crown Land.. so for some spring bear is out.It says recreational.. and earlier guidelines had hunting as essential.. so may depend on thw officer you interact with.

new measures have been introduced to address surge capacity in retirement homes, restrict recreational camping on Crown land, and allow the repurposing of existing buildings and temporary structures. All of these actions are based on the advice of Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

I don't see why they would cancel any seasons. Hunting (usually) isn't done in big groups. I bought my spring bear tag. Definitely plan on deer and moose in the fall.
Moose hunting, is usually done in groups that camp together, or hunt out of a lodge or cabin. Ours sleeps eight, and is small enough that sick folks best stay the hell home. Deer camps in Ontario are similar.

Turkeys in Alberta ? I wasn't aware of that. Are they Easterns or Merriams ?

I believe there are certain areas in the south that have turkeys. My uncle is from Calgary area and said you enter a draw for a turkey tag but he stopped trying after 5 years or so. That could have been a number of years ago, not sure if its still like that and no idea what kind of turkey they are.

All they have to do is ban hunting or gathering with others not of your household... which is what they should have done for the camping and boat launches... but of course, why would the government use common sense. Social distancing can be maintained at boat launches and in the field.
