Hunting License Hell

Correct me if I'm wrong(and I'm sure somebody will, lol)but under the Federal laws, can't a person without a PAL use a firearm under the supervision of the reg'd owner. For example, can't I take my buddy who has no PAL duck hunting or shooting targets and lend him a gun as long as I'm right there?

Furthermore,as has been mentioned, what if someone only wants to bowhunt in PQ?What a clusterfu...er...bomb!!!

In NB,only minors and 1st time hunters need show proof of hunter ed........or go to one of many country stores that sell hunting licences and sweet talk the 'lil girl at the counter if you can't produce a previous hunting licence.

Move out west. A lot less of this BS goes on. I challenged both restricted and non at the same time and have had no issue since. Quebec sure seems to be full of ball busting bureaucraps. An adult in Sask. just has to show their health card for a hunting liscence with no questions or hassles. Minors have to go through the courses.

An adult in Sask just has to show his health card If he has held a hunting license in Sask .People under the age of 18 and all first time hunters and trappers ,who have never possessed a hunting and trapping license, must graduate from a firearms Safety/Hunter Education course .
Armed forces and RCMP can use their regimental #s when buying resident licenses .

Registartion is a part of the issue.

It really doesn't matter who has the gun registered to his name.

Provided its not stolen;), any person who has permission from the registered gun owner and has their PAL can use the firearm and take out a person who does not have a PAL provided that the person with the PAL is no more that an arms length away while the person without the PAL in posession of the gun.

In Ontario there are two classes of hunting licenses now.

H1 - can hunt using all legal means

H2 - can hunt using all legal means except guns, primarily for those wishing to bow hunt only

Thanks Delmer. I've not seen anything like that here. The closest is those wishing to bow hunt, need an extra bit. Last time I had it, the cost was an additional $7.
