Hunting License Question (B.C.)

You take the "core" course and test then you go to BCWF and pay them. Once you've done that you go to any "service bc" and get your hunter card ( make sure you pay the extra $2 to have it laminated) then every year you buy a new licence and buy whatever big game animal stamps you want to hunt.

If you buy it now, you'll have to buy it again April 1st. They expire every year on March 31. (pretty sure that's the date, but I could be wrong)

Anyways, don't go in now, buy a licence and all the tags cause it's going to expire soon.

If you have proof of a hunter safety program from another province, you should be able to get a Hunter Number which allows you to purchase a hunting license and tags year after year. Hunting license runs Apr 1 - Mar 31.

^^^ THIS is correct
Hunter number is good for Life.
Proof of a hunting licence OR proof of completing an hunters safety course from other province also gets you a BC resident hunter # card.
You must be a BC resident for a minimum of 6 months, with proof of such, to be considered a resident under hunting regulations/hunter number quailification.

Went through that last year

Right on the B.C. resident issue - must be resident for 6 months before applying for hunter number

Right on the completing the hunter safety course in another province

Wrong on the proof of hunting license. I came from Alta and was hunting there before hunter safety course was mandatory so had no hunter safety course. I had to take the course or challenge the exam before getting a hunter number in B.C.

It's a well done course by the way and I learned a few things.

Well I don't know what to tell ya there. My friend from manitoba presented a Manitoba hunting licence that was 5 years old , with no other documentation pertaining to safety courses and was given a BC resident hunter number card. That was 2 years ago. A decade ago, the exact same scenario for my buddy from ontario. He hunted One season in ontario years before moving to BC.

So no, not wrong.
