Hunting near Fairview Alberta

Check with Huntinstuff, he might know a thing or two about the area around Fairview 
Unlikely you will get permission to hunt any land unless you are a "local". They are not real friendly with hunters from elsewhere. There have been some serious issues with some outfitters there and thus, many of the landowners have posted their land.
And some landowners have 50-70 quarters of land so NO means you are out of luck for a lot of real estate.
Im fortunate as my dad has been up there all his life and I am a local landowner. I get permission by default....
I don't hunt the Fairview area much as I prefer the Manning/Hawk Hills area for moose. I do shoot deer in Fairview tho.
In short, Id say if you planned a hunt and thought you would just ask permission as you go, plan again. You will find you drove a long ways for nothing.

have hunted up there lots and have a few good connections there, what exactly are wondering about?

Some of the landowners are already "tied up' so to speak by some outfitters......and the others don't really like the idea of people from elsewhere hunting on the land. It's a matter of trust. There have been problems.
I have never seen more land posted "No Trespassing/No Hunting" in my life as I did last season. I was getting a bit concerned as to whether I would be able to hunt there as I usually do.
As for hunting near the south banks of the Peace River, forget it. Whoever sold the landowners "No Hunting" signs must have made a fortune. I can see why some outfitters ride the river and hunt the banks. (which can be a real boring way to hunt)

I took a Mulie up there last year, and I had some real good access.
I know that there are guides that have a lot of land spoken for with the landowners up there.
They are very friendly, but not real quick to offer permission.
I stick around Elmsworth, pinto, and my own little area, and when invited I head up to Fairview for a week.
