Hunting near Petawawa

My son is stationed at CFB Petawawa and I was wondering if while visiting what bird hunting in the area is like. Just thought to maybe do some grouse, woodcock or jump shooting waterfowl? Not looking for spots just wondering about things like numbers, access, terrain etc

I hunt 30 min east (lanark-renfrew)

grouse are not bad this year.

haven't seem many woodcock in at least a decade

If you come back in the spring, there are more turkeys than you can imagine!!

A little late for me to chime in, but our hunt camp is probably 10 miles south of Petawawa. When they fire off the heavy artillery at the base it literally rattles the windows in our camp lol. Pretty good grouse population around. Just got home yesterday after a week of deer hunting. Tons of moose and deer sign but never connected. I think the July weather for most of the week really screwed up the deer movement.
