Anyone ever notice the over abundance of squirrels while bow hunting for deer? I literally counted 32 that went passed me today. Yet when i take a rimfire and target rhose same squirrels it takes several hours to fill my limit. Its like they know. Is it just me or does this happen to others?
 
I notice a lot of them around the property here as well this year. When I go hunting I take my sling shot and a pocket full of ball bearings, I usually get a few while waiting for Mr. Moose to show up.
 
oh they know! And if the squirrels and birds are out doing their thing it’s a good indication for larger mammals that the coast is clear.

I was out this morning squirrel hunting and I hate shooting into trees because it’s really populated down here so I tend to hunt them like big game animals.
 
Yup! When Im hunting turkey, I’m surrounded by squirrels. When I sit the exact same spot with a .22, they stay just out of range or have an uncanny ability of keeping a tree in between them and my muzzle. Sneaky b@stards!
