How about around 11:00 am, you just stop whatever it is that you are doing and take a moment to reflect and remember why it is "Remembrance Day" . I'm sure that it will be appreciated.
Ha! Yeah you're right, I can totally see giving a "salute" or tribute shots as being a cool kind of way to pay respect! They shoot canons in ottawa no? personally I wouldn't find killing anything at that moment appropriate though...
I have hunted every Nov.11th for as long as I can remember. This year is the exception, I have some stuff going on that I can not reschedule. I'll be stopping for the moment of silence & I will be hunting Nov.12th...
I would stop for a minute of silence at 11am, if you have one why not take your milsurp rifle hunting that day!! Would be fitting that a firearm that may have been used at war know peacetime use on the day of rememberance.
I hunt with my dad this year my brother-in-law will be with us, he missed the last 2 years due to a deployment and training. We go out hunting and if we are close enough to town we go in to the ceremony otherwise we stop just before 11 and turn the radio to the service and stand and have the moment of silence.
On the 11th Day of the 11th Month at the 11th Hour take two minutes out of your busy day and Remember our Fallen Brothers and Sisters who have paid the Ultimate Sacrifice so we maybe Free .
Not what the OP asked, but after all it is only two minutes of the day.
Rob
Personally I do not hunt on Nov.11th.BC has a long season and I have always taken this day to reflect on the military service of my family and that of all other Canadians who have served, especially those who have given their lives for their country. It seems to be a very small price for me to pay to recognise those who gave so much. Mur
Yes I have a protocol. I hunt if I can to remember my late veteran father and several other friends that I have hunted with that have past way. They would all be glad to be remembered in such away.
Have a silent moment at 11:00 and say their name to yourself.
Im a soldier (10 years reg force) and I think hunting tomorrow is fine. It would be nice if you went to the parade to support the vets but... in the end your free to do what ever you want.
After all that is what we died for. Your freedom.
would be nice if you wear a poppy tho
And if you so happen to spot your monster at 1100. Dont worry, you drop him ~ !
