hunting on private land without permission...

I can say with 100% certainty that land in NB posted "no hunting" means even the land owner cannot hunt it.You can post it no trespassing/hunting by permission only,or any other way you want it to read,or simply post yellow disks which convey the same message, but "no hunting" signs or red disks posted means no hunting by anybody...PERIOD!

I hate no hunting signs!

If I see a property I'd like to hunt I just go ask. Signs, red dots and all. Funny thing is I usually get permission...

A No Trespass, or No Hunting, sign is a challenge I enjoy.

Gives me a chance to discuss hunting issues with land owners, and usually ends up amicable.:D

It's good that you made it right with the owner, and good of him to offer you an olive branch; HOWEVER: hunting on private land to which you have no permission is both trespassing and poaching. As with all othe laws, ignorance is no excuse.

Poaching? Are you sure? I thought it would be a matter of not having access to an animal that you have a license to harvest. How can a person be charged with poaching an animal he has a license to hunt?

Just asking, I don't trespass.

There are so many land owners that have stoped hunting. I hope you still visit the farmer as land in Ontario is becoming hard to find. IMHO all the cityiots are moving to the country
The problem where I live is s**t-for-brains hunters who come here from adjacent urban areas.

These are the guys who ignore signs, dump their garbage and deer guts at the side of the road and come to your door in blaze orange on opening day to ask if they can hunt your property.

Find one on your property and they become positively angelic. "Gosh, we're SO sorry sir, we must have missed the signs." Or as one idiot said to me, "Are you the landowner? Are you SURE this your land?" Did he want to see the deed?

These guys make more anti-hunters than PETA ever will.

I don't believe there is an actual "poaching" charge or offence. It is just a term that is used to cover a number of game violations, I believe.

Your regs are obviously different than Ontario's then. Here a red dot means "No Trespassing".
