Hunting on Sundays

I think they didnt allow sunday hunting in my township because i live real close to the church LOL they'd hear the odd bang now and then....

I only get saturdays and sundays off, that limits the week to only 1 day of hunting....

Sunday hunting

Duck hunting with a bow seems a little dangerous.:kickInTheNuts: Just being funny, I feel for you guys. Sort of ruins weekend hunts when they're only one dayers.

Sunday

When we came to BC in 1946 there was Sunday hunting and there has been ever since. When I read threads like these and see how it is in so much of Canada, I realize just how lucky we are. Not only Sunday hunting, but like someone mentioned, clothing colour of your choice while hunting, carry a rifle in the bush twelve months of the year, season or no season. Our hunting licence's expire on March 31 every year, so most of us have a new one by April 3. Long hunting seasons, about three months for deer and almost that long for some other bigger game. At one time moose season opened Sept. 1 and closed Dec. 15, for any bull moose, throughout most of the province. Alas, the guys from further east heard of all this and invaded in great numbers! That raised hell with a lot of our freedoms in the bush! Now, there is generally a draw for most bull moose, but still a long season for tiny bulls and often a couple of weeks for a calf, without a draw.
My wife came from one of the best duck and goose hunting areas in Saskatchewan. Strangely, she always liked to visit her relation in goose hunting time! (Didn't take too many hints.) I hunted with her cousin who knew every farmer in the area, but worked in his butcher shop and made it a bit awkward to get away in the mornings. It always bugged me not to be able to hunt on Sunday's. I made it a point to talk to the game warden, oops, I mean CO, about no hunting on Sunday. I used the same argument that DVXDude mentioned, working people get one day a week to hunt. I couldn't get to first base with him. His argument was that the geese would all leave if they were hunted every day!!! I think that is, "Bull Biscuits."

Why wouldnt you be able to hunt on sunday?

What kind of country tells you what you can do on what day!!!???

Welcome to Alberta.

Sunday hunting is permitted in parts of the Province and not in others.

Personally I would love to see it across the province, if only to give the weekend warriors one more day to do their business.

Well I hope they don't allow large game hunting on Sundays.... It's nice to go for a walk in the woods with the family on a beautiful Maritime Sunday afternoon and not have to wear blaze orange!

ohhh puuuuullllllllease?Gimme a break. That's just a buncha anti-hunting propoganda, bull#### fear mongering.9 other provinces and 40+ states have Sunday hunting in some form or another if not all game/year round. Many of those jurisdictions have no blaze orange laws either.Show me the statistics that demonstrate how dangerous it is for non-hunters to share the woods in those jurisdictions. You can't....because there are none.....because it isn't.

The same old windbags that call up the radio talkshows here and claim they need Sunday to feel safe in truth NEVER step foot in the woods,Sunday or otherwise. For the tiny minority that actually do hike on groomed nature trails, would it break their granola budget to buy a dollar store vest if they are that concerned?I think not.How is that hunters share the woods in over 80% of North america,7 days/week without accidentally killing/injuring other resource users?

IMHO,blaze orange might actually breed a culture of un-safe hunters if they are programmed to believe that anything not in orange is potentially game? How is it that hunters and hikers in states/provinces where orange is not required are able to survive hunting season? Are they better, safer hunters?Maybe?

Lots of people say that same thing, but very few actually do spent time in the woods on Sundays.
