Hunting on Vancpuver Island ?

TW is working on gating everything. Weather its vandals, littering or liability reasons. Its seems dip sh*ts have given them one reason or another to gate every area.

That was one of the huge turn-offs for me in the Victoria area (I was there from 2004-2006).

If there is an issue of liability on the logging roads, then they should lock the roads at north island as well. Obvious it is not.

The real problem is that some shameful "citizens" throw junk to the logging roads. I can not believe fridges, tvs are sent to the field. They are free to dispose at city recycle center! Those idiots are cheap, low and ignorant. But they are many!!

It is my understanding is that the south island logging areas(Nanaimo Lakes southward) are privately owned by TW where as the north end is mostly crown land therefore TW has taken to locking everyone out to protect themselves from getting sued. They have had RCMP taking quads and motorbikes of people who could not show proof of private liabilty insurance. I think there have been a few trespassing charges too if im not mistaken. These lands should have never been sold to TW in the first place and now everyone is paying for it by not being allowed to take in the great outdoors. This whole closure thing doesnt seem to be common knowledge as I'm still running into people who had no idea. I've heard stories of guys cutting the gates apart and even trying to pull them out with their trucks (good luck with that) so it doesnt seem like a popular decision. I dont think the garbage is the real issue because those idiots have been doing that for years and if they cant get through the gates they just dump it in front of the gates so that will never stop them. If anyone know anything else about whats going on the info would be greatly appriciated

There was a couple huge threads about the TW bs on hunting Bc. Im Sure they would come up in a search there. I haven't heard of any trespassing charges yet on the north island.
Buy shares in TW- maybe it's not trespassing then. :)

I am among those who hurt most due to the TW gating. My neighbor told me where he saw the biggest black bear ever (He is a 60 years old life time hunter, but not into bears) around nanaimo lake, but I had difficulty to figure out where I can go without getting charged around Nanaimo lake area. Not to say I had to worry about the gate be closed suddenly and I had to stay inside for who knows how long time. That turns me off. So I always drive 400 km north, and from there, the world is my oyster. I found more bears in the north, so I am happy.
