Hunting organizations

So how many of you as hunters support hunting organizations in one way or another. When I say support, I mean join as a member or support by donations. There are many out there and most provinces have specific organizations. I am not asking about gun clubs and shooting ranges.

Some examples off of the top of my head:

-Alberta Fish and Game Associatiom
-Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
-Foundation for North American Wild Sheep

Just some examples, there are so many and lots are province specific. So what do you support and why? And if you dont believe in supporting hunting organizations, why? Everyone is entitled to thier opinions so dont be shy and answer honestly.

Just thought it might be an interesting topic.

AFGA and I donate ammo to the youth program for Hunting For Tomorrow.......and I got a sticker and a keychain from the North American Hunting Club once in the mail.....didn't join them.
 
I belong to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and Safari Club International. I belong to both as I beleive that SCI will help to protect my hunting rights and freedoms world wide as well as Canada and OFAH will help to protect them on a provincial level. I am also a volunteer and I work for SCI. Mostly I like SCI is because any money that we raise locally stays local with the chapters 70% of what we raise we spend locally however our chapters see fit. I work for SCI as a Feild coordinator for Canada but only because I beleive in them. I used to work for Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in Canada until they pulled out of Canada and the main problem with RMEF was they kept all the money raised at chapter level and if the chapter wanted to do a project they had to put in a proposal, this never sat very well as I once had a chapter who had raised in excess of $60000. over 3 years and asked to sponsor a student who was studying Elk $2500. as part of her Thesis. this would also benefit the MNR and the scientific studies needed. And they were turned down!!!!!!! I know other groups are handled the same way as RMEF and it is something that I would be concerned with!!! If you or anyone might be interested in starting a chapter or getting involved with a chapter in Canada Please let me know. We are trying to grow the organization here in Canada and are one of the few who allow the chapters to control the money they raise!!!!
 
I'm a member of the Alberta Fish & Game Association and also the Alberta Hunter Trainer Instructors Association. I think it's important that all hunters / shooters become involved with such organizations because we all know what the Liberals ultimate goal is regarding firearms.
 
I am a member of the PEI Wildlife Federation and Central Queens Wildlife Federation. CQWF is an Affiliate of PEIWF which is an afiliate of the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

I am also a member of:
Delta Waterfowl which is a HUGE supporter of hunting and has actively fought to keep the Spring Bear hunt open in manitoba, has spoken out against Bill C68, and promotes the future of waerfowl hunting.
Also a member of NWTF and Ruffed Grouse Society who also promote hunting.
 
I am a committee member for the Wild Elk Federation. Canadian version of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

A few RMEF members started a new organization after RMEF stopped having Canadian banquets. RMEF is all but dead in Canada.

Wild Elk Federation is a great organization, and really is Canadian based and focused. I wanted to continue to support Elk and other widlife and now I can.
 
I am the secretary/PR man [ as seen in several articles in the magazine ] for the Pei chapter of Delta Waterfowl for the last few years, the event co-ordinator for the Eastern Canadian Calling Championships for the last two years and am once again on the Pei chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Over the last twenty years , I have also served on the board/committees of several other local groups as well as well as ten years spent on the DU committee .
 
I am surprised that there was not more responses to this post today. Maybe allot of hunters dont support hunting organizations for thier own personal reasons.

Maybe personal ethics have something to do with that :confused:

Myself, I know quite a few who dont support any hunting related organizations and that is thier personal choice. Seeing personaly where the money goes is very important to most people.

I thought it might be a topic of interest, maybe not.
 
Well... Kawartha Wild Turkeys executive, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Canadian Shooting Sports, Ont South Central Big Game, PRPC executive... I would like to do more... but there are still some single women out there ya know...;)
