I'm in the market for some new camo hunting pants. My old cabela BDU pants are worn pretty bad and my remington water proof camo's are just not made for hunting on foot . what do you guys wear for walking and hiking in. something quiet soft ;durable and made to walk in ? Sitka sounds good and is there other brands as good for walking as those ?they have good reviews and a high price tag. but i guess you get what you pay for

I have a couple pair of wrangler camo pants that were around thirty bucks each and wear very well. Also have even nicer under armor pants that aren't as heavy but the utility is superior.
 
Depending on your budget, build, hunting style...

That said, I really like the KUIU Attack Pants I own. (KUIU was started by one of the founders of Sitka, if I'm not mistaken.) The design, fit and comfort are great. Very easy to climb, etc in. DWR treated too, if that matters to you. The only thing I'm not 100% sold on, yet, is the durability. Time will tell on that I guess, but they look a little rough for the miles I've put on them, IMO.
 
If you wear cotton, be sure to pack a reliable fire starter. I've worn jeans for hunting before, but if they get wet you'd be better off naked.

I have a pair of reddington double-front upland pants (polyester) that only cost me 50$ and do the trick for all of my warm-weather hunting - mostly upland. Cold weather I have a scentlok fleece outfit from Cabelas that makes me look like I should be in a catalogue but otherwise they just cost a lot and don't seem to make much difference. My favourite cold-weather pants are washable whipcord wool pants from Cabelas. I got a generous waist size and wear them with suspenders - very comfortable and warm when wet as well. I think they were 75$.
That said, I have heard amazing reports on the Sitka stuff, but whenever I've seen them I am shocked at the price and just can't justify it for my day-trip hunting style. Someday, if I go west to climb a mountain on a multi-day trip I'll allow myself the luxury...
 
Depending on the season and what type of hunting I am doing I wear different pants. Last year I picked up a pair of Predator Camo fleece cargo pocket pants. They are great for cooler to cold weather. Early fall it is usually a pair of black carharrts, or wranglers, or levi's.

When I want something light, breathable and quick drying I have some pairs of Columbia and Mountain Hardwear pants that are polyester/cotton/nylon blends. They have a brushed outside so they are quiet to walk in.

When I can, I buy wool. I have a pair of Filson whipcords that are a little pricey, but will probably outlast me. There are other wool options out there that I haven't had a chance to try - military surplus, Stormy Kromer, Codet/Big Bill. I have a pair of Cabelas Dry Plus Legacy Wool pants and they are way bulkier than they appear in their ads. Too heavy to walk in and heaven forbid you get them wet because they will outweigh you.
 
"RiversWest" brand, I have the ones with the big cargo pockets and magnetic flaps. Very tough water proof pants and quiet. They make different styles of pants in different camo prints. If they have magnets keep your compass and pacemaker away from them. I have both!!

Anyways punch up RiversWest on Google and judge for yourself. There stuff isn't cheap but its good stuff.
 
On the cheaper side from Sitka, i also use some old Columbia and NorthFace pants that do the trick...if its a bit cold I throw some thermals underneath....used those for much of my hunting in all of October last year....for the real cold weather...I have some Cabellas Wool pants and hooded parka...they even did the trick in January.
 
I think the best pants for hunting are the typical upland bird hunting pants. They are mostly made of canvas with some cotton. What makes them good is they dry very fast when they get wet. Also, they have leg fronts to stop thorns and pickers.

I also found that uninsulated work the best when walking all day no matter how cold it is. Just where a pair of long Johns if the temps are too low.

If you are hunting from a stand and sitting still, then you'll probably want something with insulation.
 
I wander into Value Village every other year and find a pair of wool dark grey trousers, I pay about 3 bucks for them, so if they get a little bloody no one cares.
