Hunting Prince George, BC

Amphibious.............I am curious, where around P.G. can you go for a week hunting without seeing anyone?

If he told you... he would end up seeing you and everbody else that reads about "his spot" next time he went out:D

Seriously though, it ain't hard to get away from others... but requires getting out of the truck for more than just a piss!

Ain't much competition in areas I hunt.... suprising what a backpack stuffed with a lightweight camp and putting a few miles between myself and the road can do for a fella's "Luck" in having his own "spot".

Hell, just get a couple hundred yards off of the drivable roads and you can have most places to yourself.

British Columbia:The province where the road-warriors rule!

Boo........my point exactly. I guess I should have said where you can just go and camp and hunt and not have too many guys around. Sad fact is .....not unless you go in by horse or backpack.

I am getting too old and picky.............but when I go out I do not want to see another hunter, truck or any other means of conveyance. then i have had a good hunt and holiday away from humanity.

I have hunted for 7 days straight not that far from PG without seeing anyone except my hunting partner. There is so much country around that never gets touched. Moose are often where the "road warriors" are not, as well. Regards, Eagleye.

exactly. a 2lb gortex bivy, a hiloft bag, MSR wisperlight stove... etc, its nice when your rifle is the single heaviest item on your kit.

like was said above, sometimes all it takes is following a deact road one ridge over, builting a lean too and enjoying solitude.

we have open seasons for all big game here, elk, moose, bison, mule and whitetail deer as well a slew of other species.... fsj is only 5 hours from PG at a very leisurely pace.

you can head out and find lots of good areas to hunt around here away from the tourists....

Sounds like a great idea. In the last few days I've run into a bunch of your posts on this board, and all have been based on misinformation and heresay....

(Mulie Non-Res thread comes to mind and this thread as well).

In the next few months you'll be asked a ton of questions as you stand behind the gun counter by hunters that will likely take the information you give them (many without even double checking the regs).

Just a friendly suggestion that you become a little less "misinformed" when it comes to the BC Hunting Synopsis... if not - maybe consider handing out a little less free "advice".

Well I whent out to the range tonight and they are STILL logging it. it's no where near being finished. Id say at least another year to go.

I snapped some pics but I dunno if they will turn out cause it was getting dark and the camera doesnt have a flash so i post em tommorow if they show up alright.

I "got moved" to BC, its open season on everything here, including your wallet +++++ is the home of todbartel (just think, they never even used that as a selling feature to get me here)!!!!!!

Actually, I love it here. Hunting is great, just being up in the moutains, way off the beaten path where the only thing I have a chance of running into is an animal, not of the work related human kind!

Its great, BC ROCK!

well good luck with it if ou decide to move. total cost for our move from Ont to here was alittle over $20 000. just to warn you about that.

What did you do? Buy a $15000 car on your way to BC? I moved to Kelowna from Ontario for only $3900. $2000 for the uhaul to bring all my stuff, $400 for gas and the rest for a house and food on the way to BC. Some somebody obviously ripped you off badly.

Chopperhead is correct on the total.
Thank goodness the company paid.
One car and one truck came out by rail at $1600.00 for the car plus tax and $1900.00 plus tax on the truck.
The movers cost was $15000.00 so add it up and your very very close to $20,000.00.

Way too much stuff but can not part with any of it.

Well luckily we didnt pay for it.

Bone-collector

The moving company that we used charged by weight and distance not just distance. But we did not pay so I realy dont care much.

We moved one other time only 4 hours away and it was $6000.
They packed and unpacked for us as well.

another reason to move to PG. these photo's taken 80kms east of PG. 4hrs or grueling climb to get to peak. 6300' prime Grizzly (saw two that day), black bear, elk, and woodland Caribou habitat. deer & moose in the lower valleys. Try to find anything like this in ashphalt-tario.
