Hey guys, I need some advice.

I'm a fully liscensed ontario hunter, looking to get into some spring bear action over in quebec.

What can I expect? What forms to fill out, fees to pay, etc. If going with another hunter, are we allowed to party hunt? Or must we both have tags? From what I've read so far, the rules are pretty similar to ontarios in accordance to caliber restrictions, etc.

Not worried because I'll be using an '06 and my friend a .303.

No outfitters as we can't afford it---students. (Unless you know a cheap place!) It starts in May, so I have plenty of time to prepare.

Appreciate any advice you guys have!

A lot of laws in Quebec don't make sense
I have lived most my life in Quebec still own land there, but when I moved to Ontario I am not allowed to hunt bears without going through a outfiter. there are some that don't charge very much near Gracefield Que about 60 miles north of Ottawa
Who knows what will happen after today's elections, and the PQ regain power. scarry

Ontario has the same rule for moose and black bear. The idea is that non-resident hunters should be an economic benefit to the people of the province, not just the MNR. There are some inexpensive outfitters for bear ($500ish IIRC) though it might still be a bit much on a students budget.

if you guys can find the websites for the 500ish I'd love to see them. I thought I scoured the internet pretty good, and the lowest i got was 700.

Go check out the hunting and guiding magazines on the newstands in and around Ottawa. SWMBO was getting her hair done in Orleans, and I found a French language outfitters and vacation lodge book in the East Indian convenience store (a first for me in Ottawa) next to the Bollywood videos and unfamiliar spices.

Half an inch of coloured pictures of log lodges, smiling people with strings of fish and glorious prose about the lakes and forests. Lots of websites and toll free numbers. Almost every guide advertised deer, moose and bear.
