This is just pure curiosity on my part.

Many guys posting here seem pretty enthusiastic about getting the women in their life out to the range.

Does that hold true for hunting, also? I asked a friend of mine why she didn't hunt with her dh, and she said hunting was his time to be away with the guys and she didn't mind that one bit.

What's your preference - is your hunting time your "time with the guys" or would you prefer to bring your significant other if she would agree to go?

My wife and I target shoot together regularly, and I almost got her out gopher hunting with me a couple of weekends ago. Figure I'll start with that and work my way up to deer or something.
I would like the time with her if she's up for it for sure! Anything to get away from those kids! lol

I'd love to take my wife hunting with me. Unfortunately, she isn't too interested in the idea, so it is unlikely to happen. Maybe grouse someday, probably nothing much bigger though. I'd still have to clean/skin and cut it for her, just like with fishing which she enjoys.

She's shown interest in going shooting, but due to an excessively busy life, I haven't been able to even take her shooting ( 8 years together, with shooting pre-empted by university and work mostly). It's on the to do list, I just need more free time, less work around the house, and less demands from the rest of our families on our time.

My wife dislikes firearms; she's tried a .22 and shoots it well. She also tried a couple rounds of 12 gauge, just light upland rounds through a 30 inch barrel, very little recoil. She still dislikes guns. She did, however, get her hunting licence and has taken several grouse and rabbits with a traditional recurve. I enjoy our hunting time together. She has no interest in big game, which is fine, to each her own. The group I deer hunt with includes women, and we're quite happy to have them. They're just fellow enthusiasts and friends.

My wife and I do some shooting at the range together (about three times a year) but the hunting thing is time I spend with my Dad and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Gophers and upland game birds all the time. Doesn't like the range as much cuz I am usually dialing in scopes and things to that effect instead of just blasting away so she gets bored. Coyotes and big game is my time with the boys. Another plus to getting them interested is they don't mind as much what you spend on your hobby

Wife comes hunting with me all the time. The only trip she doesn't come on is the moose hunt with the "boys". One week away.

My wife totally supports my addiction to anything that uses gunpowder, but the buck stops there. She HATES GUNS, and she hates the thought of killing anything herself. She totally doesn't care about me doing any of it to my hearts content. She likes that I have my "guy time" because when she wants her girl time, I sometimes have to push her out the door to encourage her.
I have tried time and time again to at least get her out to the range (just to plant the bug!!!!) but she asks that I respect her wishes to avoid guns in any form. I wish she would do this as it is my number one hobby, and we definately dont spend enough time together, but it just causes fights now when I try to get her to go. So we reached a stalemate.

My hunting party consists of my wife, daughter and sometimes dad.It does make for a little more work rather than hunting with your buddies. But it is well worth it.And she doesn't mind if I go blow my money on more hunting accessories;).

I'm not married... but I'd hope any hubby would be interested in taking me along. Provided he doesn't mind that I could end up tagging out first ;)

I wish! My wife has absolutely no interest in hunting(doesn`t like wild game meat either). However, she has gone to the range with me. She really likes my .357 for some reason or she will only shoot my .22s. She does know not to make plans during the 3 or 4 month hunting period we have here.
As a side note, my oldest(21) has no interest in hunting although he has gone hunting with me when he was around 12. I ask every year and he says no, that is his choice and I won`t push the fact and I only ask the once(it is a little disapointing on my part) He loves wild meat and likes target shooting.
My youngest(17) loves to hunt. He also loves wild meat and target shooting but prefers hunting waterfowl. He`s only 5ft4" and weighs about 130lbs but likes to shoot my 10ga.

I wish my wife would come but she always hates the accommodations, nowhere to plug in a blowdryer, outhouses the like. The B.S. with the boys without your wife can sometimes get tiring.... Like I've said on many a huntin trip: Sorry guys I goota gom hoome, I've drank too much & I Miss the missess too much....she's lookin over my shoulder...a blunt object ahs juss struc...me...head!

Last year, my wife joined me moose hunting. She carried her own , light Marlin 45/70 guide gun, had all the cute , warm cammo gear, and comfie waterproof boots. (These are a MUST guys!).

We didn't see any moose that day, but called one close (we heard him crashin'). My wife's eyes were buggin out with excitement.

She spent the sunset overlooking a beautiful golden bog, watching the spiderwebs drift in the breeze.

She tells me it was the most peaceful afternoon she's spent in ages. (We have 3 teenagers. LOL)

Just remember her memories may not be the "Great heart-lung shot" you made, but rather spending the day with her "Awesome-shot, handsome hunter!"......thats me, by the way.

My wife loves to hunt, my only problem is convincing her that we're better off in SEPARATE tree stands than in the same one! :D
She loves coming to the range, especially skeet shooting. She hasn't filled a deer tag yet, but we've been out for water-fowl a bunch of times.
The only time she doesn't come is for the week at the deer camp every year, that's a boys only thing.

When I was married, it was my week to go out with the boys. She never would have come anyway, but I always figured it was good to get away from each other for a week. Not sure she would have fit in with the other guys anyway, camp could get pretty crazy back then. But now that were all older, and not as crazy, I would not mind bringing my wife ( if I was ever crazy enough to marry again :p)
My daughter is coming for the first time for opening week-end, and I cannot wait. :D

GO HABS GO!!!

I got a nature girl ! Fishing ,shooting, hunting ,and she's the first one to be out the door when it comes to pre season spotting .The only time she is worried about shopping is when its time to upgrade her hunting or fishing gear .She is a hard -core hunter .She can track better than most guys i know. She is into every part of hunting and shooting that i'm into except the reloading .
In our house our holidays from work revolve around hunting seasons.Antelope, mule deer,white-tail,elk,and even black bear are all on her list of game every year. Not very often she eats tag soup either as she is an excellent shot standing or running game .

My wife supports my hunting. Even when she was a veggitarian. I'd love to take her. In fact I bought her a rifle for a wedding present. Since all the law changes, she never had enough time or interest to go thru all the riga-maro to get her PAL. There is deffinately rooom for wife and kids on hunting trips. I WISH SHE WOULD. I even offered to take her along as the official photographer

I don't have a girlfriend or wife, but if I did, I'd take her hunting with me if she wanted to come. (Normally I hunt alone, so it isn't to be "with the boys." I don't have any friends who hunt.)
