hunting red dot

`I've used a lot of red dots and I find the Bushnell ones suck. For a little more money you can get a Vortex or a Holosun or one of the Sig branded Holosuns.

You can also pay an arm and a leg for red dots (like Aimpoint etc) but they add up fast in cost when you need to mount 20 guns with red dots.

I would prefer a LPVO with a red dot center for hunting but if someone likes iron sights and isn't intending to stretch the distance much then the red dot is a natural upgrade.

This is very true, I would prefer to use a red dot over iron sights.
My eyes are not what they used to be and I can have issues using iron sights on a rifle, peep sights help some.
Because of my eyes, I pretty much have to put an optic on all my rifles of some sort, to get on target quicker and be more accurate.
But I think even for young eyes, there are advantages to using a red dot over iron sights.

.

What got me to switch to Vortex was the lifetime warrantee

When they go on sale they are usually only about $20 more than a Bushnell. I consider that my extended warrantee fee :)
