Goodday gents,
Just recently approached with an idea (someone here's going to read this and know exactly what I'm talking about) but basically, it's the idea to run a short range (50m and less) CQB type match, with non-human type targets, that would be capable of being fired by someone with a hunting rifle with a 5 rd mag.
Obviously, there would be distinct advantage to using an AR or other black rifle designed for the work, but letting someone come out and compete with what they have on hand is the idea behind this.
So, based on people's backgrounds and experience with things like the ORA short range matches, what sorts of matches would probably work?
Targets are likely to be the standard IPSC type, (see pics above in the Freedom Ventures ad that scroll by)
Engagement distances suggested so far have been 50, 35, 25, 10 and 7 meters.
Shooting only 5 rounds would allow pretty much anyone with a gun to come out and shoot it, shotguns would be allowed too, but limited to slugs.
The intent would be to have a single class of shooter, no matter what type of rifle, (at least initially) especially since most of the shooters would likely end up using a Black rifle anyhow.
At least for the first run through, there wouldn't be any props in the way. (Barrels, windows/doorways, etc) but this is stuff that could be considered for future matches.
