Hunting Rifle Is Missing Its Sight Elevator?

I'd just PM the seller.

True story, hate to admit.

I sold an older Win model 59, with the WinLite barrel, completely didn't even notice that the actual floating chamber was missing.

Sold to a nice fellow from PEI for his boys, he messaged me, and I immediately looked for one on Numrich. Sent him the link, and estimated shipping costs, and then sent him an etransfer to cover all costs.

Some rifles with scopes might be missing a magazine spring, they’re not hard to come by either...

People remove the elevator so they can mount the scope lower..... how or why would a scope relate to a missing magazine spring?

It's apparently easier to take a picture and post it, then it is to take a good look and accurately access the condition of a gun.

I've bought a few guns that arrived missing parts or with broken parts, the majority of the time the sellers were apologetic and compensation or offers of refund were extended.
The way people respond to the initial pm discussing any issues is pretty telling as to whether or not they new about it in my opinion.

Some jokers will straight out go with the " what did you expect for X amount of dollars!" response. (Be wary of middle aged jimbo's with above average amounts of feedback)

You can't win them all but the majority of folks I've dealt with here have been honourable.

Best case — an oversight, or lack of awareness
Worst case — deception by omission (in description), hoping buyer doesn’t notice, pic used to deny any intent to deceive

My wife tends to give people the benefit of the doubt, whereas I tend to be more cynical.

In any case, this calls for communication. Also, if you’re good at reading people, a quick chat will reveal which case (above) it probably is.

I hunt with a guy who didn't even know his gun was missing the elevator. It was a Win 94, and shot most ammo pretty well to the same spot. He had no reason to ever adjust the sight. It shot perfectly well without it.
