Honestly I’d take it if the price was right. I have a couple modern sporters and love them. A friend of mine has a modern varmint and it is every bit as nice as a MS. The quality between both platforms is the same. I hope to get a MV within the next year.
I wish the MS had some of the features of a MV.
As for parts, I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m pretty sure ATRS will have you covered should you need something

EE is going the other way my friend, I’d jump on it... me and the wife are remote and both works are shut down... I was hoping to snap another NR semi that I have ammo stocked up for but hell I can’t even get a reasonable price on something and stuff with stupid pricing is selling fast.
Grab it. I have a factory modern varmint. It just works have put a few thousand rounds through it so far . Has always worked without a hickup. I only wish I would have payed extra for a more accurate barel but that's on me for being cheap at the time.
At just over $3K you better grab it without hesitation. Unless you find a private deal you simply can't get one without waiting for a year.
The price on these premium semi autos is going nowhere but up. Modern Sporter builds are selling around $4K - $4.5K. I know I wouldn't sell one for less.

I’ve got one, and it is awesome. GET IT. Mine has the lilja barrel, and even with AE 55 grain, shooting ~1.25” isn’t a problem. It will shoot sub MOA with some of the heavier loads I’ve tried.
If you don’t like it you can always sell it but I’ll tell you my MV is absolute last to ever go on the chopping block out of my collection

Side charger is solid especially with there version 2 charging handle with the assisted closure spring.
Buy once and you wont cry again!
Also if the barrel is too heavy you could always get it turn, try to sell it, build another upper or try to trad it.
