hunting scope help

I see a 30-06 as a 400 - 450 yard gun. One may be able to take game at longer distances but in my experience the 30-06 is good to the yardages mentioned. If one was knowingly going to shoot beyond 450 then a 300 WSM or a 300 WM or a 300 UMag would be the ticket. The UMag is a big kicker and takes some getting used to. At one time I really wanted to have one but having seen what the 30-06, 300 WSM and 300 WMag are capable of - tells me the Ultra Mag is not generally not needed.

Several other calibers that can reach out are the 270 WSM and the 7MM WSM or RemMag.

Up to 9 or 10 power on the 30-06 would be enough scope and possibly a 12, 14 or 16 would be ample on the higher power rifles.

Trusting that your selection will work well for you.

I've always used 3x9 scopes, and found myself wanting a little bit more sometimes so now I have the 14x on high end doesn't mean I'm. Going to be walking around with my scope set on 14x everyone has there personal preferences and that's exactly what it is a personal choose of what YOU like as I said I didn't ask which magnification level to pick just some options on ffp and sfp and good glass but I appreciate all the answers I'm getting.

I'm sure I'll be buying more 3x9 scopes but for now I want to try this out

Just a thought: perhaps your need for more magnification is instead a need for more clarity?
You'd be amazed how much more detail a high-end scope can show compared to an "inexpensive" one.
