Hunting Scope Recommendations

Hey guys,

Here to get into the market of trading my Vortex Viper 6.5-20.

Any recommendations on scopes? Looking to get something more suitable for hunting, thats in a similar value of what I currently have.

Hunting will be in BC if that makes any difference!

3-9s have been filling freezers for decades and for good reason. Something similar will be fine. I use 2.5-8s, 3-9s and a 3.5-10.

Don't make it complicated. It gets expensive and heavy.

I've gotten everything I need from a Vortex Diamondback 4-12 or a Leupold VX -1 3-9. You could consider stepping down a price point to those and upgrading the binos with the extra.

My experience is to leave the zoom at 5 or 6 power, but ... the diameter of the objective lens is where I pay money. A 32mm lens gathers less light than a 40mm, but not as much as a 44mm. In low light that makes all the difference.

Welcome. What's your budget ? Lots of good used scopes on the market. Stay with a 50 mm they'll give you the brightest image.

I'd have to say a good ol 3-9 also.
I like Sawro.
I have a fixed 4x on my bsa 243 and can still nail a 10" gong at 300yrds so 3-9 is plenty.
I'm going backwards with magnification.
I used to buy 4-12s as a min but realized early on that for most hunter, it's just not needed.
Good luck choosing.

My favourite hunting scope is a Burris Veracity 2-10X42. It is a FFP scope, which helps with ballistic comp on long range shots.

Dollar for dollar you will be able to get a higher quality 3-9x than you would for something higher magnification. Would recommend Burris and Leopold or Bushnell.

Not sure the price on the Vortex. But I recently purchased a Leupold VX-5HD in 3-15x44 with the Firedot reticle. I think it's going to do anything I need it to. Can get them on the second hand market for reasonable $$.
