Hi,

I'm looking to buy two hunting scopes. Im mountain long range scope and one for open \ forest terrain. I'm willing to send 4-5k on each. Anyone have know from experience?

Thank you,

You cant go wrong with Kahles 318i 3-18x50 or for a little more the ZCO 4-20x50. Only other option is the Tangent Thetta, or I guess the Swarovski DS, with the built in range finder/ bullet drop.

I basically got the ZCO for the same price buddy bought his 318i. Difference is I waited 4 weeks for mine, he got his same day. Haven't put them up one next to the other for clarity yet, but I think the ZCO comes in just above the 318i, but I could be biased a bit as well. lol.

The 318i is a fantastic scope. However it is 32 ounces, how far do you plan to carry it across these open ranges? March has some scopes with more reasonable weights in the high end category.

Well I think Id rather carry a few extra ounces and have a scope manufactured by the oldest company going. Their glass is arguably as good as all and the repeatability is flawless. A great pair of boots will weigh more than cheap ones but a broken ankle or worse is worth the little bit of extra weight. If your that concerned with weight look at the Zeiss Dialyt.

Swarovski Z6i 2.5-15x56 P BT - 4Ai, I have one on my Sauer 404 Elegance 300 WinMag and it is my favorite scope to date. Super clear glass and handles the 300 WinMag with no issues.
