Hunting scopes

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I just have a question regarding scope selection. I just bought a brand new Savage Axis XP in stainless steel as a backup rifle and want to replace the cheap scope it came with. I don't want to go overboard on price, so what are everyone's thoughts on scope selection in the $200 price range for either 2-7 or 3-9 X 40?
 
Buy a bushnell 3200 3X9 X 40 Optics are decent, holds zero and tracks well, durable and a decent warrant. It falls in your price range and if you want better you'll need more coin. I use these on all my guns and have no complaints.
 
Both my dad and I are using 3200's and have no complaints. I did send mine back at the end of hunting season last year because it was fogging up on the inside. Bushnell replaced it no questions asked, however it did take some time. Still can't complain for the price and yes I'm sure that there are lots of better scopes out there for more $$$

junk scope, they are hazy at long range bad light gathering at dusk and dawn, seen a few come back with the radicals busted out inside the scope. the last good scope from bushnell was the 6500 elite series and they are discontinued this year.

Vortex Diamondback scope much clearer glass and awesome light transmission; run you under $250. I have been abusing a couple of them on several guns now (.223, .308, .303 british), no issues and always hold zero.
 
The Bushnell 3200 is good and there are still some around.
The replacement is the Trophy XLT 3-9x40 would fill the bill at probably under $200.
I had a Redfield and cannot say I was impressed to sold it.
There are some better scopes available at more money and some of those are available used in your price range.
The combo scope might be better on your .22 but find a brand of ammo that it likes and do very little scope adjustment or none is best.
 
Redfield Revolution, not the Rampage. You can find a 2-7 for under $200 shipped to you on the EE. Good scopes, backed by lifetime warranty. I had a Vortex Diamondback in 4-12x40 and it had terrible eye relief.
 
You can still get 3200's new from most stores - I saw them at cabelas and WSS yesterday.

Having said that, I would not buy one unless it was a great deal used; new 3200's are selling for the same price as Leupold Rifleman's and VX1's, which is crazy, considering how much better (particularly how much tougher) the Leupold's are.

I agree that the Redfield's are also a very good value.

You sure? They stopped production nearly a year and a half ago. Most stores blew them out then. I haven't seen many new ones around for ages.
