Hunting Season Changes people into

I've been sneaking on a Whitetail buck, had a red Ford truck see the deer, stop, get out with his bino's look at me, look at the deer and purposely spin his tires when he left to spook the deer...that is selfish and an a**hat...and I will always back away from an area when I see a hunter in the process of hunting...or try to get out the area so he can have a successful hunt.

I dont want to screw anything up for someone else...but others try to screw it up for you...not all, but lots of them...

Had a drunk, poacher, wreckless, all around looser intentionally cost me a deer once(3rifle shots into air). We had a chat soon after, and himself and his group of friends decided to find somewhere else to cruise and poach.

On another note, my little brother 22 years old just bought his first house this fall. It's a fixer upper between sudbury and north bay. He bought it knowing a new roof was needed with a clause that x money would be handed back so he could afford to do the job. The weekend the roof was being redone his "best" friend couldn't come because he was going hunting. Hey, what are best friends for right? Nothing when you got family IMO.

Unfortunately we are all outnumbered by the asshats.

I had my rig parked at the bottom of a 500yard dead end spur road and the wife and I walked in for a look.Of course some asshat and his wife came churning up the road behind us all camo`d up and chucking muddy snow 8 feet in the air with their 4x4.:jerkit:Spooked everything into the bush.

as my wife puts it,I become an obsessed lunatic when the rut gets on.

but I get what your saying,I hunt public land and I wont go on weekends because the asshats fill the woods, and if by chance someone if there midweek I go home. alot easier then dealing with other people who may have different ethics than I do.

Unfortately you describe my feelings as well. Last years hunting season was a gong show, even on private land. I had people running all over the place, driving up and down the valley, trashing the road, crops...they stole my treestands and trail cameras. I had one clown drive up to the edge of a coulee, fire about 10 rounds at an animal...then bugger off and leave it wounded. My son was trying to figure out why someone would do that...

It really sucks when I can give my son the run down on how not to be an ethical hunter based on the live demonstrations that were taking place every couple of hours.

I hunt public land and I respect other peoples hunts...if I see someone, I go somewhere else. Unfortunately, I have had loaded rifles pointed at me....or people using the scopes of their rifles to look at what I was doing...heck last year I had a guy shoot in my directions with some spec fire....pushing the woods. Unfortunately, some of the worst hunters seem to appear during the season...and overshadow the normal, ethical people. It goes with hunting public land...

We've got some @$$hats around here also but that comes with the territory. The only people on our land are people that we trust. Haven't had a selfish incident yet even in those pretty crappy seasons. Last year a friend of ours hunted with us for 2 weekends and he finally shot a deer on the last day. Instead of hording it he thanked us for letting him hunt on our property by giving us the majority of the deer.

I try to be as nice as possible also so I can set a good example for everyone around me. I saw a buck one morning and i had a missfire on it (very close shot). Instead of taking that spot on the next hunt I told the 2 others in our group who hadn't shot anything to take it for the next hunt.

I find the chances of this happening, diminish exponentially the farther one gets from the road.
