Hunting seat..........lightweight and packable

Nothing like getting out in the woods hunting .....until you want to sit down and just sit for a while and just glass or have a cup of coffee/sandwich.



I have one of those packable foam seats but when there's a few feet of snow on the ground there rather useless. I also use a tripod chair but that loses it's comfort level rather quick. I occasionally even drag out one of my camo lawnchairs but find them rather impractical if moving around.



Thinking of getting one of these, keeps you off the ground and high enough to see the country around you.

I use a foam seat hanging low enough from the back of my kit belt that when I want to sit on the ground it's in the right place. And I often carry a folding three legged stool.


That seat looks like it could be good in some situations but who is going to carry the two big trees for me?
 
I normally just prop my butt against a tree or a rock if I can find a dry spot. I like the idea of that seat, especially since it can pull double duty. I'm sure I wouldn't use it enough to pay the asking price for where I hunt, but if I were walking 20 plus kms a day it might be something I would look more seriously into.
 
I'm a foam pad kind of guy but I'm typically always on the move. Neat idea though, especially for setting up in one location for a few hours.
 
I use a strap on tree seat... easy to pack and can set up anywhere there is a tree...

I've used a turkey vest in the past and it was actually pretty sweet for still hunting. Its very light and has a bunch of different pockets on the front for different gear, backpack in the back, mine also has a thing where you can put a water bottle which is handy and most importantly it has a seat built right into it.

For shallow snow something like THIS might be good. But if you're hunting in deep snow, the tree seat that Superbrad posted would probably be the best choice as the legs of any chair aren't going to be level.

for years doing everything from gophers and coyotes to elk and moose. Packs well or, when going for gophers, it can be the pack for the day.

However, I removed the cheap open-celled foam that it came with a few years ago and replaced it with closed cell foam from an old backpacking mattress. Nice and toasty now.

I have a Cabela's Turkey Lounger that is an essential part of my gear. I made a carrying bag for it out of an old fleece camo pant leg with a sling added for carrying it. You can usually get it level with a little fiddling. The only problem with it is that is so comfortable, I tend to fall asleep ;-)
 
Interesting idea, but it wouldn't work in a lot of places for me. Walmart used to sell a nice little camo chair with a back and no arms to get in the way. I have a couple of these and a couple of the folding stools stored in my various blinds. Other than that I keep a foam pad strapped to the bag for mobile hunting, the chairs are just too bulky for moving around in the bush and the tripod stools are worse than a bicycle seat. I got some good water resistant overalls to help keep the butt dry.
