The tent is 14x16 Cantex Wall tent. The walls are 6' with a 10' peak. I have a kerosene heater for night time. Our wood stove is small and compact and works very well, you just cant get enough wood in it to last a long cold night. The kerosesene heater is 24000 btu's and will put you out of the tent on a -15C night because its so warm.
Ours came with the poles, absolutely genius setup. I can put it up by myself in less than 40 minutes. I got the tent and poles for 500 bucks. The poles alone retail for around $1100
I spent $$$ on a nice Chainsaw that only runs for a bout a cord a year on the moose hunt. So I like to cut my own wood. With all the slash piles it only takes about an hour to cut a weeks worth of wood.
And yes, grouse work well at holding down tarps, as do moose hides and rougue bears........
in our tent..we double up a huge tarp on the floor the to keep out dampness.....then we lay down a huge felt cloth(the ones they use in the paper mills)keeps all toasty warm even in bare feet on a real cold night
I guess you could call this a " shack on stilts". It has 3 floors including ground floor. The 8'x8' shack sits on a 16 foot high timber frame...is insulated and has a wood-burning stove...comfy . Counted 24 deer within 800 yds. last evening ...only two bucks
