Here is one that gets the spechul award in my book... "Deer always walk into the wind...." Well there must be one big bunch of deer Piled up against the Pacific Ocean then bubba!:dancingbanana:
I LOVE this one!!:dancingbanana:
I've been told also that the "wolves have driven the deer right out of the country"
My bro and I were talking a few years back and some idjit came out with that.
Kid Brother said " Well, that must mean there is a mess of wolves chasing deer about 300 miles south of here"!:D

Whatever you do don't call my neighbourgh on the FACT that bears make a plug & stuff it up there ass before they go into hibernation! He's said he knows it for a fact because he's seen bears shot out of their den with it stuffed right in there:eek:

Well, he is right. It is a fact.

They don't actually take it and stuff it up thier bum wiht thier paws, but they do form a plug out of hair, feces and fibourous plant material, which is held in place until the following spring.

In th espring, they eat lots of grass to get thier digestive tract movig again, and it pops out wiht htier first poo of the yeear, which must smell someting horrid. I've fond a few of these plugs (or what appears to be these plugs, anyway) over the years.

If a bear was shot in it's den, or just out of it, it would indeed have the plug installed, so your neighbor isn't telling tales...:dancingbanana:

As for the comment that one needs to hold high when shooting over water there is a logical explanation. Some snipers take air temperature into consideration for long shots. When shooting across a substancial body of water the bulllet may very well be affected because of cooler and denser air. It wouldn't be noticable for a 300 yard shot but if trying to hit a head/upper torso hit at 700 or 800 yards it can make a difference.

As for bullets cooking off in a fire it does happen. The bullet and casing will seperate and bothcan become projectiles. I know of a fellow that had a .22 casing lodge under the skin of his leg when it happened.

Hmmm - well it DOES explain the deer crossing sign at the ferry terminal now that you mention it...

Hey calum - go stop by tofino on the far side of the island and see if there's a big heard of ungulates standing there looking west going "now what the $(&#$ do we do?" :D

One of my all time favorites is that hummingbirds migrate by hitching a ride on the backs of Geese....

Heard that for the first time about three days ago... I wonder if they pretend they're jockey's and place bets?

Back to the topic: I like reading all the signitures in these forums... here's a mythical ditty:
"This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!" -Adolph Hitler
.... not...see link below

Don't know about a stone in a moose heart but it does have a bone in it. I had it in my hand this week, contrary to what a biologist may say.

Haven't read ALL the replies........yet;)
But how about this one........
Freezing Game meat (bears, cougars...) will KILL the Trichinosis Worm:rolleyes:

Pork trich and Bear trich are 2 different bugs......

Commercial pork is virtually trich free these days, i'd eat it raw and feel safe.

Bear trich isn't killed by regular freezing, and possibly not even most commercial freezers can git r dun...;)

What?....whad' I say? My sister eats raw hamburger, and there's a perfectly good stove right behind her for cryin' out loud. Of course, she puts in Worchestershire sauce and other stuff in it. I think it's called "steak tartar".
Not for me thanks.

Oh and another myth

Hunting deer over bait is not "REAL" hunting:eek:

That is true... I have hunted deer over bait for 3 years now and I haven't killed one. Unless you kill a deer it is not hunting right???

The proper way to make steak tartare is not wiht a pnd of ground beef from the grocery store...

The proper way to do it is to take beef tenderloin and slice and chop it very finely and then tss it with a raw egg, some worchstireshire sauce, dijon (or hot) mustard and some chili sace like tabasco or similar.

Mind you there are about a zillion ways to make it, and i usually use dijon, egg, sammbaal olek, worchestershire, capers and some onion.
