I'd avoid the H&R semi or pump. If I were you and looking for another semi I'd look at the beretta 390 or a Browning A5 magnum with either a modified or invector choked barrel.

Thanks for the advice on H&R, how about Weatherby SA-08 12 Gauge and or Stoeger Model 2000?

Yes definitely need a dog, but so far doing good as I am using waders to go in the water for ducks but no need for waders while shooting geese as they are done on dry land...

There is a really mice 870 WingMaster 12 gauge in 2-3/4'' in the EE right now.
This would be a very good entry level shotgun for ducks, geese and chickens as well.
Did I mention it appears to be in very nice condition?
All that it would need is a new recoil pad added for your comfort and fitment .
As for catnthehatt, he has photographic evidence to back up his statement.
I think there is one with a 28gauge and a goose in the picture as well.
catnthehatt can correct me if I am wrong.
Did I mention that Good Looking 870 is in Very Nice Condition?

Sounds like you're looking for a 3" capable gun. The Stoger has gotten good reviews, but my experience with it on a rainy day was that it makes a fantastic straight pull bolt action. Could have been my hunting partner that day didn't degrease it from the original packing grease or break it in properly, I didn't ask, just chuckled as he kept offerring to trade it to me for the old mossberg pump I loaned him. Weatherby used to make great shotguns, but they moved there plant so I won't guarantee satisfaction.

Mossberg makes a semi that is fantastic for the price, but like I said earlier the Browning A5 magnum is the standard against which all modern semi auto duck guns compete, find one used in good condition, buy it and don't look back.
