Hunting sling

If I can attach the a "tac" sling to a hunting rifle those are my preferred slings. Quick adjusting allows for greater steadiness of offhand shots, can allow me to tighten the rifle to my chest for hands free retention, or same can be done on the back of you spin the rifle around. Very versatile!

Most of my other slings are simple leather straps meant for little more than shoulder carry to give my arms a break or navigate rough terrain. One that surprised me in it's usefulness was a repro 1907 pattern leather sling on my Garand. After the leather was broken in a bit, it's proved to be very valuable as a shooting aid.

I was talking to a buddy, and he brought up the thumb loop. I think it would be nice to have in terms of shoulder sling carry. Could probably get a cobbler to sew one in to whatever sling (except Slogan :( ). I ordered a few - a Slogan, a sling from Cabelas and a Blue force sling. Hopefully when they get in, I'll throw up a review of my feelings.

Lots of options out there and it comes down to whether one is shouldering a back pack. If so this means using any type of sling that is resistant to slipping off the shoulder... It's good to look at options and envision the one that will serve the purpose.

Nylon boot lace with a clinch knot on both ends for the blr '81 308.
Put a regular eyed sling stud and slip ring on the butt end.
I don't like those metal bands that attach to the barrel.
There is no mag tube on a blr to clamp to.
Works like a charm & suits my frugal nature.
