I'd stay away from any domestic. They are always a compromise.
The ZUK and tracker are a good idea but the cost is getting up there to find a good one.
Personally I am a Toyota 4x4 kinda guy. I would find a good shape puckup or tacoma and bob the bed, shorten the wheelbase and 4 link the rear axle. Lincoln lock the rear axle and beat the snot out of it.

I have had a few yota trucks and have friends that have toyota trucks, the amount of abuse and terrain they can handle is far above what they should.
Right now the best bang for your buck in a hunting SUV is a 3rd generation Toyota 4runner. Toyota worked out alot of bugs in this truck the 3.4l has an acceptable amount of power, the coil over front suspension is better than the IFS torsion bar of the late 1st and 2nd gen. There are alot of these trucks on the used market driven around town by soccer moms. Some pre 2000's had an electric locker. Anyway the list goes on. With a little looking you can find a decent one between $1000 and $4000.
